  1. Argentina drew 2-2 in normal time against France. England lost 2-1 in normal time against France, with a Kane missed penalty. Yeah - MASSIVE difference there Edit: The quote seems to have screwed up, that was the "Argentina showed England how to play against France" quote.
  2. I guess because of the type of guy Southgate is. If we have a dreadful tournament and it's time for him to walk, I'm pretty sure he would. If we have an OK tournament but the FA want some time to pick a successor without a rush, I'd trust him to professionally give his all during that spell. If he had a great tournament but doesn't know if he wants to stay on longer, there's no immediate pressure to sign a new deal.
  3. There's no way Saka gets awarded the penalty Di Maria won - that's the bigger difference than anything else.
  4. Pickford's general play for England is miles ahead of his general play for Everton though - but if you're asking for examples of big moments you don't get much bigger than the Euro Final shootout.
  5. Pickford almost single-handidly won us the Euros during that shootout ffs We'd be putting statues of him up if the others hadn't missed theirs.
  6. Pickford and Maguire are regularly far, far better for England than their clubs. Saka was for a while, until his Arsenal form caught up. Phillips broke through for England before he really stood out in the Premier League. Henderson was far better for England this tournament than he has been recently for his club. Shaw has been consistently good for England, in a way he hasn't consistently for his club. Rashford has 4 goals in 14 games for Man Utd this year, but 3 in 5 for England. How many examples do you need?
  7. Ah, wheeling out the greatest hits. Shame that "he's too cautious in the big games" can't make an appearance this time
  8. I don't get the "bUt hE gAvE 2 PeNaLtIeS" crowd - what exactly was his other option? There were two clear penalties to give and even then he missed one of them in real time. The fact he didn't give a whole multitude of other clear fouls in attacking areas is the problem.
  9. Gave that a bloody good go, fell just short. France won against the run of play.
  10. Not really understanding the Southgate criticism here. We've outplayed France before and after their goal, and would be level if Kane scored the pen. Tactically fine, still getting to some dangerous positions.
  11. It was, but it was also Mount making a run that Henderson wouldn't have.
