Seriously, I don't even remember the last edition when Alex had a long-term future, he'd always retire up to 2 seasons in and get replaced by some ex-United player or the big foreign name at the time of release.

But at least FM 13 is the first FM to be accurate (assuming FM 13 does this).

Hey guys, i was wondering if you could help me.
I've got a network game with 2 friends where we are in our second season and the most annoying thing is the slow processing times, particularly during internationals. I was wondering if it was possible to make internationals have quicker processing speeds as we are not interested in that side of the game.

Any help would be appreciated!

Set the scene-----2016/2017 season. I started out as Blackburn Rovers manager who are my favourite team. I got them promoted and then established back in the premier league. Sunderland job becomes available mid season in my 3rd season. Was offered a lot of money transfer wise and wage wise. Much bigger club in terms of fan base and money etc so thought it would be a good step up.

1st role to keep them safe. Successful. Finished 12th that season.

Next season, not as much money to begin with and was only to finish mid table and play attacking football. Half way through the season I am in the top 3 completely over achieving but given a massive increase of funds which was great. Pushed on and finished 4th. Massive achievement I thought. I spent 61 million and brought in 30 million. A lot spent though on young players with massive potentials but good enough to play straight away.

This season. No money available which is obvious why on last seasons spend. But I thought I would sell 2 or 3 stars including last season top goal scorer as well but to bring in champions league quality. I qualified for group stages in great style winning 7-3 on aggregate. . I am unbeaten winning 2 and drawing 2 in europe including a win and draw against Athelic MAdrid who are unbeaten in spain and top their league, even against Barcelona they won comfortably, so I am the only team to beat them this season.

However I am suffering league wise though. Do have 3 or 4 players who were concerned because target is qualify for europe via league (not champions league but europa) however 12 games in I have lost 5 and won only 4. Just lost to Man City which proved to be my last game in charge.

I didn't expect the sack at all lol especially that any money I have spent this season I had to make myself by selling players. I left myself with a smallish squad which didn't help ie tiredness etc.

Really gutted!!!! Price for over achieving the season before. Oh well lets see where my next adventure will be.

I'm having problems around knowing what to do concerning a few selections.

1. I have an alternative tactic which I like to use in away fixtures. Every time I select it at the team selection screen having changed my team and select continue to the match it auto defaults back to my original tactic.

2. So I try and change it at the final stage before the match actually starts and it's successful. Then when I finally click to start the match it defaults back once again to the main tactic.

On top of this, every time I click pause ( when the match has started using the wrong tactic ), and I then change to the tactic I want, the game defaults to full highlights even though I have it set to key only. So I change it back to key only and it continues to show the highlights in full. I lost the will to live and cancelled all changes so it reverted back to the unwanted formation and key highlights only. I lost the game and have absolutely no idea how to faff around with the settings.

I seriously find the whole GUI very difficult to understand. I've only been away for a month and I'm pretty sure the way I'm playing and asking the GUI is exactly how I used to do it. Very frustrating. Anyone offer me any suggestions as to what I'm doing wrong.

In 2019 looking to improve my midfield. Already have 2 good deep lying playmakers and im now looking for two more defensive ones (ball winning midfielders hopefully) but 90% of regens scouted are either deep lying playmakers or advanced ones which i don't need! frustrating. anyone else had similar problems?

Question: I just like the administrative manager aspects of the game, not the play calling during a game or shouting or setting tactics.

If I set my assistants/coaches to to handle all functions during a live game, will they make all decisions during the game? (Substitutions, Tactic changes).

One of my most consistent players is an English central midfielder who has, in the last 5 seasons in which I’ve finished top 6 in the Premier League, averaged about 7.4 or so, weighed in with a decent amount of goals and is an amazing free kick taker (both direct and indirect). His attribute stats aren’t super and he only gets 2 stars from my coaches, but he’s a key player for me.

He’s never been rated highly. I only signed him when I was in the Championship because I had no money and he was the only central midfielder from the Premier League I could get on loan whose wages I didn’t need to pay. He had a storming season and I signed him when he was released from his parent club at the end of the season and he hasn’t let me down since.

Now; despite being one of the best players in a top 6 (latterly top 4) premier league side for a good number of seasons he has never once been called up by England and I’m guessing this is because no-one rates him very highly despite his top notch performances. This seems a bit bizarre and surely needs looked at in future versions, but hey ho, it leads me to an idea for an additional player/press interaction for future versions of FM.

That is, the ability to tout your player for international recognition. This often happens in real life and in the game could have beneficial affects on a player’s morale or increase the pressure they feel or demoralise other players in your squad who you haven’t bigged up. The press and fans could laugh off your suggestions which could have a detrimental affect to the player’s morale. Whether it has any affect on the national team manager is doubtful, but God loves a tryer.

Just a small idea borne of frustration at poor old Kendall Appleyard’s constant exclusion from the national side. Even Leon Osman gets in the England team IRL.

Is it even possible to cut long shots out of my teams game? In my 3rd season now and its nEVER been a problem untill now, my players seem to think shooting from 35+ yards is the new black. NONE of them have the long shots ppm, i use the "work ball into box" ppm, and on individual instructions i have them all set to take long shots rarely. It feels like this is now out of my control.

I'm pretty knew to the game and was just wondering how I add players to the international squad. Jack Wileshire for example isn't on the England squad and whenever I go on player search there isn't a option to put him on there? I've looked around on the forums and can't make much sense of it all.

For being such a decent game developer.

I've been a gamer all my life, and I'm really disgusted by the direction the gaming industry is heading towards.

Two things in particular, really turn me off:
1. Focus on aesthetics rather than gameplay
2. The new marketing strategy of DLCs

Case in point: The Total War Franchise.

Total War has suffered from poor AI and pathfinding for the longest time, yet it has barely been improved. Instead, they're pushing the limits of how beautiful the game look with every title. Understandable, since that sells the game so well.

Imagine if we still have FM05 Match Engine, but great 3D graphics. I'd hate that. Imagine if the AI is so ********, anyone could win the league in the first year with Wigan, scoring 100+ goals. SI have stuck true to the real reason people play this game, and that is the game mechanics. We all have our complaints about the game (I'm a harsh critic myself) but we cannot argue that SI have tried to improve every aspect of their game mechanics every year. ME, tactics, training, press conference, etc, while still maintaing standards across the board. You name it.

Total War has also followed the path of many developers of squeezing out as much money from fans as possible by selling DLCs. Personally, I got nothing against DLCs per se, as long as it doesn't withhold core gameplay content. Cosmetics DLCs such as artwork and music are all fine for me. Expansion packs that also add something different is also fine, and should be encouraged, I think. However, what you get nowadays are DLCs that unlock game content. Rome Total War, a grand strategy game about ancient Rome, won't have the ancient Greeks to play unless you pay more for them. This is Day 1 DLC, which means its already part of the game, but just withheld from you. They're going to release more DLCs for you to buy if you want to play the other factions.

Imagine if FM only offers Premier League, La Liga, Bundesliga, and Serie A and nothing else. You have to pay for other leagues. How crazy would that be!

FM is so respectful, they even allow people to share new content (facepacks and other edits) for free! FREE! People have to realize how ridiculously nice that is in this crazy gaming industry.
