I need HELP!!!! ive been playing footy man fine until yesterday when i tried to play a match and the game froze!! now everytime i load a game i can do everything else but play a game!! I cant even click on a result to see the player ratings who scored etc!! i can do everything else but play games which is really f*****g me off!!! i have tried uninstalling and reinstalling but it still wont work!

I activated my copy of Football Manager 2009 on my laptop, things were going fine, I'm playing and there's absolutely no problems at all.. then my laptop detects some trojans and some such, it's so harsh that I have to reinstall Vista. Crap! So I reinstall Vista, BUT I think that I forgot to de-activate FM2009 before I reinstalled windows.

I installed FM2009 yesterday and during the process it asked me to punch in my activation code. Would it ask me to put in the code if the game was already activated on said laptop or is it possible to activate a copy on FM2009 twice?

Now when i have fast highlights, the clock goes really fast, and if there are no highlights in 15-20 mins, they go so fast i can't think about anything!

Does anyone else think this is a problem? I think its important every once in a while to show that not all forum posts simply reflect problems or concerns (although there are some great constructive suggestions for changes being made) and that its important to show that a lot of people are enjoying the game and are grateful for the efforts of the prolonged beta testers and SI staff in getting the game to where it is.

That's not to say all is rosy for old Firestone FC! I was on a great run of form and now am on a terrible run of form. I've tried changing my tactics and recruiting new players and I am still on a sunderland-esque slide down the table. However, I dont care that I lose to teams I appear to be better than - they may be more tactically astute than I, or simply having better luck. I had a shed load of luck in getting up to 13th in fowler, beating teams much better than me (thanks to the attacking 4-5-1 formation admittedly). I am now having no luck and playing terribly (with a new custom tactic following my skill progression) and am down to 150th odd - its been an eventful few weeks.

But that is what I love about this game and for the record, I think the match engine, the (decreasing) prevalence of attacking default 4-5-1 and even the exhorbitant transfer fees are great. Its a challenge! Without having to come up with new ways to anticipate and combat the effects of these challenges, the game would be far less interesting.

Here's to those of us who are enjoying the game and generally, and those of us who are sticking up for the match engine!

Kevin Betsy has just scored a 40 yard smasher against my Huddersfield side ridden with injuries to all of my new top signings and goes on to pick up the MOM award.

That does it! FM09 is the most infuriatingly, reppetative unrealistic and generaly annoying piece of kit ever installed on my PC... and i'm a bloody Flight Sim addict:(

Kevin Betsy was useles for Oldham, and is generaly useless, yet i see him running the game agaist us, fair enough, not all games can be completely bang on can they. However, having spent about 40 mins RL watching a staggering screen, waiting for the match to load for god knows how long (about the length of a tv break ;)) i'm sick of it.

Why did i spend my money on this, when all it has done is give me crap. I cant believe it's taken me this long to realise, I've been done. I buy a game which i expect to be able to play, and it takes about a week for me to be able to play the game. Afterwhich find myself having to download another patch, because obviously SI cant just release a game that works, why can't you charge me a bit less for the game if I a) Have trouble even playing the game. b) Once set up, uses an immence amount of my PC's power. c) Despite all this power use, is not a full game, in the sence that we have to constanlty report bugs to you etc.

I'm wondering.. who it was, in SI that got given the final copy of this game, played it for a few hours and thought, yes..that can go on sale for £30, and then we'll get to work on completing the game in our own time for our users to lap up.

FM08 was fantastic, i loved it, i loved SI, i had no social life for pretty much a year because of SI and that is what i want when i pay for a game.

FM09 is poor. A few additions to the general game is always good, and i cant really complain about that. However it's so obvious that the entire development team has spent more than 70% of this year, setting up a 3D match engine, which I never asked for and would not have even thought twice should SI have bypassed the idea.

Please, please! go back to what your good at SI.

And yes i know some people or even most people love the game, because they have super dooper powerful computers and enough time to get through a week or 2 in the game within a couple of hours in RL. But my point is, should SI decide to carry on with their cosmetic improvements to FM in the future series, then i'm going to look elsewhere, or, even better, i might get a life and just play the odd game on Fifa.

Wow, i'm a moaner i know.

Alos, cant believe people on here don't get why there's such a business for pirated versions of this game. If i knew what I know now, i'd have probably just had a crack at one of those and see what it was like before i spent cash on it. I've been hired by a club with a decent budget, so I decided to fire my ass.man. and find me a better assistant. And so I did, but here comes the odd part.

I can:
- Ask assistant to filter out unrealistic targets
- Send him to press conferences.
- Get team talk feedback and team reports

I can't:
- Get any advice before and during the matches regarding tactics
- Get any advice on my team talks before, during and after the matches.

Am I a noob and overlooked something or what is wrong?

This is the second time this has happened to me, when clicking the FM shortcut i get errors saying XML parsing error: not well-formed (invalid token) at line 1 of blah blah blah. The first time i read the advice on the sticky at the top of the forum which tells you to add the command " --reset_preferences" in the properties pop-up. The game then started but my option to load last game was greyed out and when i tried the load other game option id get a message saying "the saved game could not be loaded". Regretfully, i deleted my game and reinstalled FM before starting again.

However, the same has now happened on the latest game ive started at a similar point in the 2nd season. I really dont want to have to start again and find myself back in the same position for a third time. Any advice on how to fix it?

Hi, I have installed football manager successfully and have updated my computer completely. I have had no issues in installing it and have entered all the security details but when I go to play the game it opens and loads up slowly then goes sorta black.
