Who else is obsessed with it??? Who do you normally go with the first 5 rounds, what kind of personnel strategy do you go with?
For me it's always Sid the Kid 1st, then Bouwmeester.... Pitkanen... and then Carter if he's still around.

Ovechkin, Phaneuf (if still available) otherwise Bouwmeester, Pitkanen, Nittymaki, Stewart. After this I try and get young defensemen (under 24) who will be good to great. I then fill out my team with young forwards. Then come the veterans, I can pick up quite a few great players really late who never get touched because of their $$$$ value. This is no problem for me, because my team is young and cheap, so I can get a lot of late round gems this way. The backup for me is always a goalie somewhere in the mid to late 30's range who is relatively cheap. I'm waiting for the Hasek regen to come along anyways, so he's age doesn't matter much.

Hey Rip, do you draft #1 overall? If so, how could you not go with Crosby?? lol. Nittymaki is phenomenal, but I normally draft either Esche, Grahame or Lalime in the 13th and Hasek in the last round because he's got one good year in him and then I'll have Price or Leland sharing time with Esche the next season.
There really aren't many good young D's ready to step right in based on their ratings.
By Stewart do you mean Anthony Stewart? Cuz you could wait on him til about the 12th round. He's a great prospect IMO so I don't know why he's not taken earlier

Do you just keep randomizing until you get #1 overall?
I started my career with a fantasy draft. I hovered my mouse over "randomize", closed my eyes and clicked it 3 times. I ended up going 5th and Ovechkin was still available.

Nah, I select the Leafs with the pointer hand to highlight them in yellow and then switch them with the top team. Also, I do hit randomize once before this to shift the balance with teams instead of it being the same teams as normal going first, 2nd, 3rd...
Sometimes I'll be two teams so I can't build one team of super youngsters and the other a mix, with mostly players who are impact right now.

Here is a question for you:
I have always avoided the fantasy draft because there are no scouting reports on the players...Am I missing something or is there some way to view players like you would in a normal draft?
