pauly1616
Feelings? SI? anyone?! I know for sure that "rifles in free kicks" is just a nightmare...
TheRealMagpies
I've always thought "shoots with power" meant the striker was good at hitting the ball full on so it leaves the opposite goalie stood there looking stupid as the ball whizzes past him. Though i do prefer "places shots" as a PPM for strikers.
fatboyjohnmulhern
Yer i dont like this one but it isnt bad, just means that he will only score amazing goals.
stokes_83
When my DMC blasts a 30 yarder home I don't consider it a bad thing
arcturus15
One of my strikers has this as one of his preferred moves and it hinders him very badly. Every time he gets through one on one with the goalkeeper, the only place the ball will go is high over the net.
SCIAG
It depends on their shooting attributes.
pauly1616
i disagree- aquilani has 19 for long shots and hasn't scored one all season. often they go over the bar...
MattUK
Jozy Altidore has this ppm and i believe it hinders his scoring because hes otherwise a brilliant player. On the other hand Morten Gamst Pederson has it too and has hit a few screamers into the back of the net.
x42bn6
I think it's a bad PPM. Although you'll never know, weaker shots are less likely to go over the bar, meaning there's a chance that the goalkeeper will fumble and you can capitalise - this doesn't really happen much with this PPM. What it is good for is ridiculous goals. I have a defensive midfielder with PPMs Shoots with power, Curls ball and Shoots from distance (amongst others) - no prizes for guessing how he scores most of his goals! But Places shots, as above, is a much better PPM - in the sense that there's no real disadvantage.
crafty bison
I don't know - Forlan has it and he is the best impact substitute (aged 33) I have ever had. I agree that "Rifles in free kicks" is absolutely awful...
magicratx
Yea, all defensive midfielders should have this as no matter what their long shot stats are they all seem to score some screamers
Ryknow
It used to dominate FM07 and FM08 because it didnt matter about the goalie, if the player was decent he would just smash it past him. In Fm09 however its one of the worst ones to have, players normally sky it or hit the ball straight at the goalie. The focus is on "Places Shots" and "Likes to round keeper" now, they are alot better.
The_Kreman
I ask all the youngsters to learn "round the keeper" and "place shots", rather than to do anything with power. I think that rounding the keeper is the most important and has helped me improve the number of one on one chances i score from.
pandemonium
Actually my big Italian striker playing at AC Milan, and The American striker for Villareal (for player-naming sake) both have it and they have used it well for me. Sure, they will miss one by blasting it over, but most of the time they will smash it in with the keeper looking helpless. I usually get a goal every 2 games from these 2 players. But I definitely agree that "shoots free kick with power" is useless. I have yet to see a player with the PPM hit on goal, always on the wall or in the stands. Cheers!
