Probably a change to this rule:

But I can't find anything about it changing.

http://www.chelseablog.com/2006/09/01/do-players-have-a...r-of-their-contract/

Basically means players can buy out the remainder of their contract if there's two years to go. Meaning youth players on £200 a week can defect for £4800 compensation.

These rules are bad. It was better in old days:

- No Bosman rule, there was no free-signing.

- Limited nationals. Only 3 foreigners in one squad.

- People talked less about money and more about football

Transfer Windows

There are two international transfer windows during which players who's contracts are unprotected may move under the new transfer regulations.

The dates for these windows are:

Pre-season : 1st July - 31 July

Mid-season 15th December - 15 January
