How long till a player learns new PPM or position?

Its been months and Mikel has not moved from competant and pandev has not yet learned his preferred move yet of placing shots.

Does anyone roughly know how long this takes?

it will tell you if they have failed. iirc its between a month and 3 months, and you should have heard something. on the player's training page it will tell you if they are spending time learning a move or not

My player tells me he's failed everytime i load the game.... stupid pre patch game lol.

yup one says 10% the other says 20%, is that good? its been over 2 months now

It varies to the player, depending on their attributes, including the "hidden" ones...

the 10% and 20% thing is about how much of his time in training is spent learning the new move or new position, so obvs if he has more positions and moves to learn then he spends less time in normal training

Adaptability, Versatility, and maybe even Work Rate, though that might just apply to match behaviour...

Adaptability is cultures and countries, not teams, formations and positions. Versatility is most important for positions, I don't know about PPMs though, probably professionalism and such.

The game has not indicated anything from their training unless I look at it myself...its taking forever .

Same here. I guess that comes down to the lower quality of coaches and the lower quality of player. Although making sure your striker knows how to go round a keeper is somewhat crucial in FM09 so I will always wait as long as it takes.

i retrained felliani as a attacking midfielder and he go to accomplished in a fortnight

I retrained Joey O'Brien to play as a defensive mid at Bolton in about a week. Of course, that's he actual best position! Bit of a research error there. But he was already capable of playing CM and RB, so it probably depends on what they can already play.

You seem to have trouble realizing...

...there is no set time. It varies, from player to player, in different situations/training. Sometimes it can be as little as a couple weeks. Most of the time, it can take a few months. Sometimes, it'll be upwards of a year or more. And some players will never learn.

damn why does mine seems to take a season haha...

I imagine if they already have some ability in that position it would be quicker. i.e. orange at right wing.
