By far the worst thing about the match engine is..

That players intentionally miss, slow down or run away from the ball just so it can reach the player it's meant too. The ways that players recieve the ball is infuriating, there is almost always some intentional error by the defender instead of good play and it ****es me off far more than anything else. If the football looked smarter then I wouldn't mind losing 2-0 but when it's because my defender has slowed down so he wont reach the ball and let the striker have a goal it's awful.
