But I want to use Steam for other games, but don't want Steam to do any auto-updating or anything to do with FM 2009 installed on my computer (from disc) Can I disable Steam from accessing my FM game installed on my PC? I think you can safely install Steam without it affecting your FM installation, as you have FM installed already. Steamm won't know anything about FM, unless you add it to your "Non-Steam games" list. This is correct. Unless you chose to install FM via Steam it won't be 'in charge' of FM.
