Unusual, never seen it before but it is a possibility, it may be a virus thats effects his breathing or heart rate or something therefore 8 months off would be the appropriate time off. One of my friends was affected by it about 15 months ago and he was off work for 4 months so 8 months is probabably reasonable for a footballer.
