Importance of CA (Current Ability)

Recommended Posts

How important is it as a determinant of how well a player will perform?

For instance, I've got a striker with a CA of 100, this would suggest he'd peak at League One level, however he's got 25+ goals in the Championship this season. Do you think there'd be no chance of him performing well in the Premiership?

its about about rating.... CR and PR...they stand for current rating and potential rating

and these are basically how all the players stats calculate and how effective he is in the given position...

for example someone can have CA of 185 but have stats all over the place and not necessarily for hes given position

where as someone can have a CA of 170 but all hes stats are perfect for hes position giving him a higher CR and PR

CA in itself has no bearing on how a player will perform. The match engine only uses attributes for it's calculations. Current Ability however is the total sum that is distributed for attributes. A rise in CA will result in a rise in attributes. 1 CA point does not equal 1 attribute point though, different attributes have different weightings. Footedness and positional ability uses up CA as well.

It's somewhat covered in this thread as well.

Current Ability is a hidden value used by the game to determine the ability of a player. It is based on their attributes and basically sets a cap on them. Potential ability is the max that Current Ability can rise to during the game. Current Ability is not the be all and end all though. It is more important to know what exact attributes a player has. Hope that helps. :)

And you can find them using editors or external scouting utilites.
