Ant1984
Hi guys need your help. I have a Mac PB G4 1.5GHz processor with 768 MB DDR SDRAM. My graphics chipset model is GeForce FX Go5200 and vendor is nVIDIA (0x10de) with Mac OS X 10.4.11 and i just downloaded the FM 09 patch 9.2.0 hoping to solve my problems. I have successfully downloaded and installed both the game and the patch but when i open the game the screen goes black then turns white and then nothing happens. The mouse icon changes to a football and then whilst the game is running with a blank screen i can move the mouse arrow and it appears that the game is running as the mouse arrow changes to a hand at certain areas of the screen. I can only describe it as the game has put the curtains up and i know the game is in but i just cant access it. The only way to leave the game is by force quit. Any help is greatly needed as im starting to have withdrawal symptoms - HELPPP MEEEEEE PLEAASSSEEE!!!
4457
Running PowerPC?
Les Girondins
This was unfortunately the same issue I had on my G3 700mhz iBook. The game is no longer PPC compatible it seems. Which is a travesty frankly, as we should have a no-3d/2d only option. It wouldn't break the bank and would facilitate a few thousand extra legacy sales! 4457
Well, people have reported it working on Leopard PPC but SI's certainly not supporting it. Which is annoying, as I'd like to play it on my laptop but have to settle for FM08 on this and FM09 on a PC.
Ant1984
Running PowerPC? YEAH - any ideas?
4457
Sorry mate you're out of luck, FM09 isn't meant to run on Tiger PPC (or any PPC for that matter). I can understand the annoyance, being an iBook G4 user myself. Hope you have PC access.
Ant1984
well how come the manual states the powerpc min specs?
Les Girondins
well how come the manual states the powerpc min specs? It was either an oversight or the 3d was done at the last minute ..
4457
It was either an oversight or the 3d was done at the last minute .. I think SI admitted that it was an oversight and it really should've had the Intel logo, not a Universal one.
Ant1984
if you look at the si FM 09 patch 9.1.1 it states that even though not officially supported on 10.4.11 that if you download 9.2.0 that it will work on tiger. Any ideas why it is running on my mac but my screen goes blank?
Les Girondins
Hmm I didn't try the patch .. I think I'll try it out now and see if I get a different outcome.
4457
It's not about the OS though, it's about PPC/Intel I thought?
Ant1984
good luck but i warn ya that it didnt help me
Ant1984
It's not about the OS though, it's about PPC/Intel I thought? so are you saying that without intel processor it will not work?
4457
That's how I understand it.
sleepwalkingpolarbear
If you're using a mac without an intel processor its very unlikely to work. Of cours eif using windows other processors from AMD would work.
Ant1984
i dont understand why the game is running is but the screen goes blank. Could it be my graphics card?
4457
It's not. FM09 is not meant to run on a Tiger PPC.
Les Girondins
Front of box has Universal Binary on it, rear system requirements explicitly state Intel only. So just an oversight. Sadly - no PPC. Be interesting if you tried for a refund as google seems to suggest Software is not 'tangible goods' and EU law was proposed to make exception for it, but I didnt see any follow up on that ..
