Pronouncation Problem

I recently signed this ukranian player and he fits into my team perfectly. However, I can't pronounce his name, can anyone help me??? His name is:

Dmytro Chygrynskyi

Ah, old Dmytro. There used to be a pronunciation thread around somewhere. Personally I use Di-ME-tree-o Kh-GRIN-ski.

May be missing something but why would you want to pronouce his name?

Other advice dont sign players whose name you cant say:D

Why would you not want to know how to pronounce your own players name?

As well as his problem with saying the player's name, hasn't anyone noticed his spelling problems in the thread title too?

It is a tricky word to spell and these forums dont come with a speel checker.

Tbf to him though, i always write speel checker rather than spell.

No it was a deliberate typo! I can spell (sometimes).

Give him a nickname, may I suggest... erm... Pete?

You could use the nicknames feature and change his name to Jim.

I like to think my players would give an easier pronouncable nickname to someone like that.

it's actually Chyhrynskyi (birth name)... kuh-/g/rin-sk/y/ee is how i'd say it - the ones in /x/ being almost silent

Chyhrynskyi would be the proper Ukrainian-English transliteration, but FM seems to like to keep the letter 'g' for Ukrainians. So Metalurg rather than Metalurh; Oleg Luzhnyi rather than Oleh Luzhnyi; Sergey Rebrov rather than Serhiy Rebrov etc.

Except with Husyev/Gusev.

It's amazing what managing in Ukraine over two versions (CM03/04 and FM08) teaches you.

Never mind players, I couldn't pronounce the name of my team to start with.
