One thing after another

Bought FM on day of release, installed it through Steam... no problems for a week or two. Then it said that there was an XML Parsing Error involving the last saved game. I thought it was down to the condition of the disc, so I bought another, installed that but the same thing applied. I've tried the solution on XML Parsing Errors that was in that other thread, but that hasn't worked. Now I've reset my computer back to date where it did work, and I've installed it again, it's now taking ages to load, and is under the name Spore Creepy and Cute Trailer. Any ideas? It's doing my head in.
