Too few goals? Too many goals. Quick experiment.

Reading through those message boards I've noticed some posters claiming that FM09 has too many goals since the 9.2 patch and that 0-0 draws are now extremely rare. Well I have just finished a season which had the Spanish, English, Italian and Scottish Premier Leagues on full match detail and here are the in game stats in comparison to the real life goal tallies from each of those leagues from the 2007-08 season. The figures speak for themselves but I think you will agree the the totals are pretty close to the real thing:

Goals scored in English Premier League in FM09 (1st season) = 1022

Goals scored in English Premier League in real life (2007-08) = 1002

Scoreless draws in FM season = 21

Scoreless draws in real life = 23

Goals scored in Serie A in FM09 (1st season) = 979

Goals scored in Serie A in real life (2007-08) = 970

Scoreless draws in FM season = 23

Scoreless draws in real life = 30

Goals scored in Spanish La Liga in FM09 (1st season) = 956

Goals scored in Spanish La Liga in real life (2007-08) = 1021

Scoreless draws in FM season = 27

Scoreless draws in real life = 27

Goals scored in Scottish Premier League in FM09 (1st season) = 569

Goals scored in Scottish Premier League in real life (2007-08) = 610

Scoreless draws in FM season = 21

Scoreless draws in real life = 16

Other people's experience may be different but that puts that 'issue' to bed in my opinion anyway.

i just checked mine - EPL - 4th Season 9.2 - 1016 goals and only 32 games played

My only point would be that the 2007/2008 was a very odd season in the EPL ; Lots of stupid results like 7-4's IIRC

in the game EPL scores most in real life La Liga scores the most

There were 1002 goals scored in the 2006/2007 and the 2007-2008 premier league season
