Shirt Numbers

How long does it normally take a player to grow accustomed to a shirt number? I have some players coming to my team through transfers wanting one, but I've completed 3 seasons with 1 player as the same number throughout, but still doesn't prefer a number.

Not sure if it ever would happen.

I am in 2013-14 with the same team, and some players have had the same numbers for this whole time, so I don't think this happens during the game. It may just be a small addition at the start of each new game. The only player still in my team that wants a team number is Ibrahimovic (8).

I also feel that if you don't give a player his preferred number, he should become slightly unhappy with you (especially if the number was free). Or he should maybe be happy with you for giving his preferred number to him.

I think it's the same as the retired shirt numbers feature, in that it's implemented to existing players at the start but doesn't happen later on in the game.

That's a shame, I think if a player is at your team for a long time then they should become accustomed to a shirt number, for example you take number 7 away from ronaldo at utd and watch him throw a tantrum.
