azeri4life
Why is it that when a player is clearly offside, he still runs with the ball, shoots (always saved) and then is blown for offside? It's annoying and time-consuming. Why does this happen? It never happens in real life.
Glenn Wakeford
IRL the instructions given to linesman are not to flag until the player touches the ball/interferes. This is replicated in FM, meaning that offside calls appear to be 'late' when they aren't.
MrPompey
do some people watch football and understand the rules?
azeri4life
Did you read what I said? I said that even long after they've made their first touch; they run with the ball on a counter then shoot, then that is when the whistle is blown. If it were being realistic then the whistle would be blown when they make their first touch right?
Glenn Wakeford
No, as the referee has to wait for his assistant to flag and then spot it and decide if it's the right call. This can take a second or two, and the game seconds are quicker than in real life, making it look 'late' in the game. Plus late decisions happen in real life and the game is supposed to have the occasional contentious late offside call.
azeri4life
But it happens nearly every match. The "offside" player receives the ball around halfway then runs with the ball, shoots and then is flagged for offside. It doesn't make sense, it's too late to be realistic. Glenn Wakeford
If you have some examples you want us to look at, save the .pkms and upload them to us and make a post in the Bugs Forum. We will then get someone to look at them to see if there is a problem or not. Please mention the times of the offisdes for the matches you upload as this will make our lives a lot easier. Thanks
Evilmaniacuk
plus why would you be getting called offisde nearly every match near the halfway line.....all the teams you play must have a really high defensive line.
azeri4life
I play counter-attacking football which means the forward drops deep.
Evilmaniacuk
But counter attacking is not hoofing the ball past the defenders into an offside position. Tell your forwards to practise not being offside so much and bring your midfielders more into the counter attacking
slappy_bag
Stop complaining about correct offsides. This is replicated very well in-game, and is pretty much identical in real life. Referees don't have ten eyes, and they watch for fouls etc. before checking the offside. Well done to SI for making this so realistic.
Jirki88
plus why would you be getting called offisde nearly every match near the halfway line.....all the teams you play must have a really high defensive line. Then play a high defensive line yourself, so the opponents get pushed back.
MrPompey
I think the answer here is to back up the claim with PKMs and a post in the bugs forum - sorted
DB11
A player is only penalised for offside when he inteferes with play (touches the ball), gains an advantage (receives the ball when it has been deflected to him) or inteferes with an opponent (stands in keepers line of view when a shot is taken). We are told that once the player commits one of these offences and should be penalised, instead of giving a wrong flag, it is better to give a late one. For example, you say to yourself "1, 2, 3 yes he should be penalised. Flag up." OR it could be "1, 2, 3 no the defence have cleared it play on"
