Hey everyone.

I have just created my home town team and placed them in the scottish 3rd division as an amateur team and I was wondering if there was any way to become semi pro?

Thanks

David

Give players and staff full-time contracts (I think at least 80% need them) AND get promotion. Then it's down to the board.

If you've put your hometown team into the 3rd Division, then you can set them as semi pro in the editor also. There are very few teams in Scotland that are amateur these days, Queen's Park the only SFL club and even in the non-leagues it's a rarity. I know Easthouses Lily are fully amateur as their manager mentioned in the papers last season his players pay to play. But all Highland sides are semi pro though there will be players on amateur contracts (even Darren Shallicker at Elgin in the 3rd Division is amateur as RAF personnel can't sign professional/semi professional contracts). All Junior clubs bar RAF Lossie can sign players on a play for pay basis but the smaller ones won't, EOS and SOS likewise.

Likesay, just set your team to semi pro in editor, no amateur team without Queen's Park's youth system could survive at that level. I think someone said in FM it took a promotion to the SPL for Queen's Park to turn professional - 140+ years of tradition down the drain! :D
