themoffster Posted December 19, 2008 Share Posted December 19, 2008 Installing the patch has overridden the xml file for the game setup screen that allowed you to select the hige daatabase. Amaroq Posted December 20, 2008 Share Posted December 20, 2008 KUBI - That's subtly incorrect. The "Huge DB" option was removed from the default skin from '07 onwards. However, the game still has hooks for it, which a modded skin could surface to let people play with a Huge DB. Most likely, this fellow had a skin (simple .XML file) which surfaced the Huge DB, and the patch has re-installed the default .XML file, replacing his modded one. KUBI Posted December 20, 2008 Share Posted December 20, 2008 It was never explained in detail by SI, but there was a problem that does affect long term games. I do remember some problems with nationality of regens in the past, when using huge database, but I'm not sure if that was the main reason to skip the option.
