Assistant Manager control match?

I know how to let the Asst Manager handle friendly matches (and often do), however, is there a way to let him control a regular match?

I'd like to give him a shot and see what comes of it.

You can only do it by going on holiday for the match or getting a touchline ban. I don't recommend either, don't want him getting the taste for it or he might leave the job for his own team!

Yeah, going on holiday is pretty much the only way. If you still want to select the team first you can still do so and go into the match screen before going on holiday.

Although, having selected the team doesn't mean that your ass man won't make random substitutions and completely mess up your tactic. As everyone knows, ass man's are a wee bit stooopid

Which is why hopefully the OP has a good assistant.

With a little help from a scouting editor I hired the best assman in the game - and he still makes idiotic substitutions.

So with the assistant taking care of team talks, press conferences, telling you who to buy via team report, handling player contracts, arranging friendlies and now taking control of your matches, all thats left to do is sit back, click continue and reap in the rewards.

If you go on holiday before you get to the actual game, yo ass man will pick his own players and tactics if you don't set these in the holiday menu (play with current squad and tactics or something lik that).

Exactly Micado - that's what the OP wants, the manager sets everything up and the assman takes over from the whistle. That's how I interpreted it anyway. If he wants the assman to pick the team and tactics, just untick that box.

But is that possible? Even when you tick the boxes for play with current squad and tactics the ass man can change some items because of injuries or so. iirc once you get to kick off you can't holiday or am I wrong here.

Thanks for the replies, it is what I was after. I'd like to pick the squad, and then let let the asst manager work the subs & tweaks. Curious to see what he would do & how it would work out.

Here's the problem.

If he doesn't like the 11 you pick, and the tactic, he changes it to something totally stupid.

My Wigan save had Ryan Taylor playing left back, even though that his not his preferred position, because he was miles better than any specialist left back. My assistant just didn't get that and if I holidayed a game, he would pick a left-back sub and bring him on after 5 minutes. They also change your formation, which often means that the players you pick don't fit the formation.

If you're going to let him control it, best to give him the run of the place otherwise it all turns to worms

I also had some other stupid stuff. Fullbacks playing as strikers was the worst one...

Well, unfortunately I'm only playing the demo right now, and going on a holiday doesn't seem to be an option. I've got the full game waiting under the Christmas tree...
