Tutored by retired player

Towards the end of last season I asked Del Piero to tutor Saivet. I'm in pre season and Del Piero has now retired, and yet it still says Saivet is being tutored by Del Piero. I expect I could get rid of it by simply moving Saivet to a feeder club then bringing him back straight away but I'm curious to see what will happen, especially as it's a 'third stage' tutoring (role model) and I've never got one to work before. Has this happened to anyone else before, and will Saivet still be tutored by Del Piero from beyond the grave?

NOTE: I am not reporting this as a bug before anyone says I should post this in the bugs forum, I just simply want to know if it has happened to anyone else and what the results were, ok? Plus it's on FM08 anyway...
