Should SI be providing more graphics with the game?

So a discussion,

Does anyone think SI should be providing more graphics with the game, eg, kits, logos and facepacks.

Should more of their profits be going on stuff like this? With the new standard facepacks SI provide it's extremely difficult to creats our own to the same standard.

I know the issue is to do with licensing and the cost to get those licenses, but how many would be prepared to pay slightly more for more images.

Also how about fixtures list, would many people like to see the official ones used as I know they also require purchasing from the relevent FA's.

No, because a lot of leagues don't get faces or logos due to licensing issues like you say. Some of these it's not a case of paying more, it's a case of their being an exclusive agreement between the league and the other company.

And as for would I pay more for more graphics? No. Not when they can be added for free by the community here.

Personally I'd like to see a little button in-game to generate a facegen face for a player who doesn't come with a photo. Personally I just download the trial of FaceGen itself and made my own

Perhaps if the in game advertising is successful, SI could put that 'extra' cash toward more licensing. I don't think it's terribly important though, and you will always end up with some sort of 'frontier' of players with no photos; and that means there is always some customer annoyed that the polish/cypriot/vietnamese league hasnt been licensed.

As said above - it's not about the money. Just like PES, if the licenses are already exclusively owned by someone else, there's nowt you can do...

Np, they're not. There's just a lot of lazy, untalented people releasing 'facepacks' by taking a crappy 'panini' overlay or something like that and plonking it onto a photo they got from the club's website, with virtually no effort involved. The community is then flooded by a ton of these individual facepacks in this style almost entirely just for premiership, serie a and la liga. Then they get bored, someone releases another 'overlay' and back off to 'work' they go, pasting in the same photos from the clubs website.

If people put time and effort into making a good 180px cut out which actually fits the style of the game and doesn't try to cover up its bad quality with national flags and names which are included in the game any, and made an effort to do teams other than the premiership and so on, they'd get a lot done within a few months, rather than rehashing all the 'stars' with crappy-overlay-of-the-week.

And yes, I've done and released cut-outs myself, so its not just idle moaning.

Not bothered.

The faces add little or nothing to me. I play long-term games of 20+ seasons so I spend the majority of my time looking at regens anyway.

I'm sure there's plenty who disagree, but that's my opinion.

i remeber for the last fm08 someone released facepacks for the top leagues in the style of polaroids. i personally thought they were brilliant photos

As I understand it, exclusivity is the issue. Other companies are prepared to pay ludicrous amounts to ensure that their competitors can't get the rights, regardless of price.

And why would real fixtures be an issue? They are only valid for the first season anyway...

I think the FM community create some brilliant graphics. Some of the skins are better than the one out of the box, and the new facepack 'FMB' is way better than the ones on the DVD. Long may the fans reign!

Yes, we can download it from fansites and that wouldnt be a problem. But what i need is a better 3d match engine, with this 3d quality i cant call that 3d actually and for me they better take off the 3d match engine or they should do better

I wouldnt mind logos, pictures and stuff like that..

But when it comes to graphics, I would really like if the game stays put!

I like to play alot of seasons, and that the game is quite fast.. So its possible to play some seasons, without sit by the computer all day seven days a week..

Cause when it comes to hardware, you shoulndt need a top-end PC for the game to run quite ok... In my opinion..

I say we ditch the 2D and 3D as well.. Cause its never going to be quite as in real life... :-)

I wish SI would just give us the a drop down for each player - like they do for us managers - to attach a picture to that player.

They should step away from the stupid cutouts. The facepack community was really busy before they appeared. These days everybody does their own style...

Nope. It should remain 'fan area' IMO. Let them concentrate on more important features.

The cut out style in the game looks ***** anyway, the ones around the community are much better, plus can be made faster.

if we start makign SI sort out facepacks and logos and all the stuff like that, just tihnk of how many more bugs there will be. And plus, all our own facepacks logos and skins are probably better than what they may come up with anyway

Of course we want all in there if possible, but it's just plain simply not. And demanding SI to make less profit for more licences is not going to prove successful

I assume we are all aware how and where we can breach copyright, trademark rights and rights to the own image if we want to, aren't we?

well this year is the first time i have got all the images and facepacks and logos, kits etc etc. and i found it very easy to do so by fans who had made these excellent add ons. im not good at computers but i was able to do it easy so i would pre SI to concentrate on improving the game and these little cosmetic features leave to the fans. everyone wins in that soloution.
