If that happens, usually one of those is not the case, e.g. the host created the game with an edited database which cannot be chosen by the client users when clicking on the network icon as they don't have that database on their machines. Me and a few mates had the same problem between Mac and Windows. It has been raised in the bugs forum, whether it gets fixed in the next patch is anyones guess.
