Against all odds: your best win

Whats the best victory you've had on FM09?

I just (somehow) beat 17 match unbeaten league leaders Arsenal 6-0 at the Emirates. My Blackburn team who began the season with wins away against Liverpool and Chelsea had been plummeting down the table to 11th place since, losing 6 out of our last 8 entering the Arsenal game. Santa Cruz, who hadn't scored in over 16 hours of play somehow hit 4 goals and assisted another. 3 of my starting midfielders (and 3 players on best season form) were out injured. Things had been going terribly for this team. Quite possibly my best (and unlikeliest) result in FM.

Somehow we now have the league's 18th best home record, but have beaten Arsenal, Chelsea and Liverpool away and drawn at Man U. We also beat Chelsea away last year to end the 86 game blah blah blah. What a strangely motivated group of players I have...

Great result. I've never had such a great results in 09 but I've noticed bigger teams get very complacent at home against a lesser team. I'm quite sure Arsenal had almost their reserves against your team for this match.

nope, I wouldn't be so surprised with the result if they had a 2nd team. they had everyone I would expect in their top lineup except cesc was injured. they got outplayed!

I lost my next game at boro...

oh...and i have another question...i like a little bit blackburn, and i was wondering how much money do they get for transfers, cause i see in the team players like sunny, pogrebnyak, alexis sanchez, chretien, ustari...they are good players and also quite expensive:) and i see fabian delph also

They get some money, not too much though. I've sold a bunch of fringe players to raise cash and actually none of the players you mentioned cost more than 6m. I waited till the right moments when they're teams were ready to sell. (Sunny was unhappy at Valencia so I snatched him for 1.9m. Ustari had a 4.1m release I believe.) I also bought Van der Vaart from Madrid when he requested a xfer for 8.5m and in the summer before the second season I bought Camacho from Atletico for 17.5m, but he got injured for 5 months recently.

I think I was given about 8m or so for xfer 1st season and then 23m or so second season after I finished 7th with a healthy state of finances. Turned down 25+m bids for Santa Cruz too.

They're a fun team to manage, good balance of money and challenge (hard to finish ahead of big 4 plus big spenders mancity and spurs). Now if I can only save up money to fix this stadium, my turnover is crap.

Somehow my season ticket price is 55th highest in England! Less expensive than most of League 1 and 150 quid less than my feeder club, Blackpool. Come to think of it, what gives? Can anyone explain this without getting too much off topic of the thread? Explain it and share your biggest win;)

Mine was a 3-0 win at home in the Champions League against the mighty Jose Mourinho's Inter Milan.

They had their best team out but my Shakhtar team outclassed them.

This is in the first season.

Apart from that, it would have to be my 8-0 win with my Shakhtar team against some random team.

Playing as Sheffield United - finished 4th in the Championship, drew Bristol City in the playoffs. They beat me 1-0 in the home leg. Return leg away at Bristol - my DM Smertin gets a red card in the 10th minute. I figure it's over.

But no! Beattie scores to tie it in the 48th minute, right after I subbed in two relatively inexperienced midfielders (James McCarthy and Stephen Quinn) because Gary Speed and Brian Howard were worn out. Uh oh, this is going to go into overtime ...

Darius Henderson scores in the 103rd minute. Somehow my midfielders stay on their feet, and I win! 2-1 on aggregate. And then Q.P.R. blows me away 3-1 in the playoff final.

A 1-0 victory for me in a friendly when playing as Roda JC (mid-table Dutch team). Doesn't sound so special until you realise the opposition was Barcelona in my first game in charge. I was pretty chuffed with the 91st minute goal too, I was happy with a 0-0.

Playing as Academica in Portugal in FM 09 - an absolutely HUGE 4-0 victory over 2nd place Sporting CP. A win that has catapulted us into a solid 7th place at the January transfer break. Not bad for having brought in 20 new players and shipping out 9 out of 11 starters.

I think Vela got 3 balls the first half and he scored them all, it was amazing :)
