Steam - 'Game Currently Unavailable'

After playing for several hours last night i've risen out of my pit this morning and attempted to fire up FM again but farking Steam is claiming the game is unavailable and to try again at another time !?! Errr no how about you let me play the game i forked out over £30 for last night!

Did you download it from steam?

If so go to the steam folder find the fm2009 folder which is in steamapps/common

Try copying the fm2009 icon in there and paste it to your desktop no need for steam then that may work but no guarantee

I tried to do that before attempted to launch in order to have desktop link but then that didn't work.

Don't know then sorry.

But have you still got Steam running in the bottom right?

If so then exit it then try them steps again if that doesn't work then not alot to suggest sorry.

Try restarting Steam to see if that works.

If that fails, close Steam, go into your Steam folder and delete 'ClientRegistry.blob'.

When you then restart Steam, it will completely refresh your details. Hopefully that should sort the problem out.

Well i went through steam at midnight of release and i have had no problems whatsoever.

That was about as useful as an inflatable dartboard.

Had the same problem, i deleted local content, downladed again, works fine.... until the game crashes with a sound error.

However, i've tried the first 3 steps and still nothing, this is really starting to f*ck me off now, how can it run fine all of about 9 hours ago but not anymore !?!?!

Huzzah! Step 5 suggested opening it from the steam folder in the program files and it's finally working.

Of course i did you moron, i required help and asked for it on two seperate forums thus expanding my range of potential helpers i just happened to find the help that i needed on the Steam forums.

That is why i dont use steam for games,(part from the obvious half life and its mods) they are the most unreliable bunch of fools EVER with the worsed customer support.

If you go to Program Files/Valve/Steam/SteamApps/Common/Football Manager 2009 you can access the fm09.exe file directly; I've right clicked this file and created a shortcut on my desktop, so I don't even need Steam running now to play the game.

Yep. Steam has been better then expected imo
