Technical help needed - not activation (i dont think)

Hi there, after a day of trying I finally got FM to work around 11pm which was great, was enjoying a nice game before my laptop decided my day hadnt quite been stressful enough and would simply decide to erupt into flames making it as dead as a dodo.

Now I have got onto my older XP computer, which meets the minimum spec, have tried installing the game, downloaded steam again. I believe I have installed it correctly but there is very little in program files, but it did patch it.

Then when I click on launch game, the "preparing FM" window pops up for about 3 seconds, disappears and nothing else happens. I havent got to softanchor on this computer yet if thats what its waiting for.
