Black screen

Hopefully this is a simple problem to solve, but I've been on the forum for an hour and I can't find anything about it. There was a piece on the support section which referred to the 2006 edition and I can't find the cache to delete or change.

So, I've installed the game (I have a mac if this makes any difference), double clicked on the icon and it just comes up with a black screen, then a beige coloured screen. The cursor changes to the finger when I move it around, it seems that there's icons there but just can't see anything. Does anyone know how to fix this??
