Steam needs to be ON to play FM09?

Do I have to keep Steam running if I choose to buy the game via Steam? I like to not let everyone know how long I've played and so forth - it's nobody's business really; and Steam tends to track that sort of thing.

Can I for example dl/install/patch via steam and then uninstall steam?

When you install via Steam it asks you if you want a desktop shortcut... the game can be launched directly from the desktop icon but Steam still needs to be running in your taskbar.

By default, unless you delete the startup entry - steam app should already be running.

If you try to shutdown Steam app... game closes too.

i dont know about full installation but demo works at least by going on "C:\Program Files\Steam\steamapps\common\football manager 2009 demo" folder and clicking on fm.exe. By this way you dont need to run steam even in offline mode. I expect same to happen on full installation though.
