Back passes and Free kicks

Is it implemented in FM09 that a keeper could pick up a backpass and a free kick is given??

I thought i had one today but after slowing the speed down it came off one of my players.

Has anyone had this or know?

I've not seen it. It's fairly rare in real life - but I have seen it twice in the last week or so. Before that, I don't recall seeing it happen for several years, so I wouldn't be surprised if this doesn't happen in the game.

I wish it did though - I've conceded one goal where it would have been better to concede the free kick!

it happend during the arsenal v man utd game. you would think that it wouldnt least of all from those 2. but it happend.

Only if the offence happened within ten yards of the goal, otherwise it is like any other indirect freekick.

Of course, they never do line up on the goal line - it happened at Portsmouth last week and by the time the ball was kicked the nearest defender was about four yards away.

I am. I watched the ref count out ten steps which just happened to finish on the goal line, so clearly he thought it needed to be ten yards.
