In game, if teams finish on the same points in the EPL with same goal difference, goals scored, head to head record etc does the game arrange a play off as per the real life PL rules???

Or does it employ the 'let Aardvark FC win' rule.

Surely with the amount of PL seasons we all must have done, someone must have seen what happens. If not can a SI person clarify??

If all other tie-breakers are equal, there is a one-game playoff in the EPL. Just as specified IRL.

Note, however, that "correct" tie-breakers aren't usually applied to tables prior to the end of the season - that's why you will see Champions League placings switch after the final match (when it changes from display using Goal Difference as a tiebreaker to display using head-to-head), and why the E.P.L. table is alphabetical when zero games have been played.

XIII. How is the English Premier League table ordered?

Obviously, the Premier League table is ordered firstly on the amount of points gained during the season. After the points tallied, the goal difference is taken into account. Goal difference is worked out by minusing the amount of goals conceded from the amount of goals scored. If teams are still tied after points and goal difference, then the amount of goals scored is used. Finally, if teams are still tied for a position, then one of two things will happen. If something is at stake, such as a place in Europe, then a play-off game takes place at a neutral venue. The winner of this game recieves whatever is at stake. If there is nothing depending on the positions of the teams, then the teams will tie for the position.

That pretty much covers it all.

I emailed the Premier League a few months back regarding this, and..

Dear Scott

Thank you for your email. Where teams are equal on points, the number of goals scored and goal difference then there will be a play off. The Premier League does not look at the head-to-head record.

Thank you for your interest in the Premier League.

Kind regards

Communications Team
