Graphic select option-does it really detect card appropriately? Question for SI.

I hope someone can answer this...preferably from si.

I yesterday bought a new graphics card (Nvidia 8800gt) and was under the impression that this would run the 3d match engine easily. The thing is it auto-selects and it seems to not autoselect the highest graphic setting, I have to do this myself.

The question is does the autoselect option by default go with a medium setting and I have to choose high myself, or would it go to high if GFX was capable. My GFX card runs the 3d engine fine when I select high but was just wondering why it autoselects something lower. I don't want to select high for it eventually to crash. I've also noticed slight stuttering-should the 8800gt run the 3d engine fine, if not which graphics card runs it perfectly?

8800GT is far above what the 3d engine needs, I don't know why theres such a fuss about this engine. A 4 year old card will run it fine.

What else is in your PC.

And yes, I think it auto selects medium. It did on my PC to.

Which graphics card have you got? Do you find that when you select high, the shadows have a kind of (hard to explain) fuzzyness/sharpness/jagged edge?

But for your superior HD..very similar.

Do you get the fuzzy/jagged shadows then? And the occcasional stutter?

your systems could be a lot different lol depending on OS, RAM speed & latency, CPU speed and HDD speed etc

So having the graphic settings on high can cause shadows to look jagged then?

In my experience-not exactly jagged, kind of fuzzy-very hard to articulate-I'll try to post a screenie later.

ahhhh ok, i just spent 300 on a new hd tv recently so dont think ill be splashing the cash on a pc anytime soon.

lol playing this game with an 8800 gt is like running over child car track with a real ferrari
