is it possible to turn xhairman interaction off on fm09?

Why would you want to do this? If its because he accepts bids for players then you should be able to use the games editor to alter his stats so he does this on a less regular basis but you won't be able to stop it completely.

No it isn't and he makes it more realistic because IRL chairmens do accept bids etc.

Plus its a better challenge trying to replace those players that have been sold without your liking.

I recommend negotiating every offer with a much larger transfer fee (this is all FM08 numbers, but say a 2.5m player with a 12m asking price) and most importantly with a "transfer at end of season" clause, instead of "next available". I often have the club return from my negotiating with a 8m offer for example, and that gets accepted by the board for being irresistible but the end-of-season clause remains, so you have a full year to find a suitable replacement.

I think it'd be better to have more interaction with the chairman: for example, being able to negotiate him. If the team's in financial trouble and he wants to sell your star player for a derisory sum, tell him you'll sell a few fringe players, cut the wage bill but not sell your star player.
