Stumbled across this tactic. Help would be appreciated.

Waiting for FM 2009 I have been trying, without success I add, to design a decent defensive tactic after getting bored with my WHU V13 and WHU V Formation tactics.

I was having a terrible first season with the Hammers so stopped and began tinkering with my old V Formation to try and make it better. Had some degree of success in about the 3rd game of tinkering being 2-1 up away at Boro when my keeper Robert Green gets sent off in the 75th minute. I put Matthew Upson in goal changed around a position or two and shock horror I ran out 4-1 winners!!

Thinking I have literally stumbled across a winning tactic next game I tried the format again but using 11 players this time. A 1-0 win at Newcastle, followed by 2-0 away at Spurs, 5-3 win at Blackburn, 2-0 home v Birmingham, 3-2 win at home to Everton and a 4-1 victory at home to Fulham. The only defeat being a 3-0 reverse away at Chelsea and even then I had my chances.

The reason why I put this on a thread is that it plays some great attacking Football with a West Ham squad which is pretty much what it was at the start of the game so I am looking forward to trying it out with some very good players.

However, it does seem leaky at the back so maybe a defensive expert might be able to give some tips as to how to tighten it up.

Going forward however it is great for me with Dean Ashton knocking them in for fun and even Lee Bowyer cracked in two long range efforts from the AM slot and I find him hopeless in the game.

You can look at the Formation and Instructions here.

It's called WHU 4-1-1-3-1

Thanks for your help.

I don't want to sound like a broken record, but having tried numerous tactics on FM09 I always end up reverting back to this one. Even though it's made for 08 it's the most succesful for me so far.

Anyone who's struggling I reccomend you try it.

TL>>> What player instructions do you use because for some reason transferring a 08 tactic to 09 seems to jumble up the individual instructions and I never made a note of them.

Also maybe this is why it's winning. I tried it and was 0-0 at half time, olooked at my tactics and it showed this????!!!!!

it's not the tactic, it's a bug in the game mate. happens to me quite a lot. was actually hoping i would have 13 players out on the field, but wasn't the case
