andysharkey21
im managing arsenal and just got to the january transfer window. a few months ago i agreed to sign huntelaar at the end of the season for 7.5 now and 7.5 over 12 months. any way with this in mind i decided if i got a good offer for bendtner who i dont like i will accept it as i will have about 10 good strikers. so milan make an enquiry for bendtner and i ask for 10m plus 50% sell on fee and they offered that but the chairman accepted it on my behalf. im not upset because like i said i was going to accept any way but why would the chairman need to do this when i have over £100m in the bank? this is actually the first time its happened to me and it seems crazy when i have so much money! stevie_G_32201
this happens often. there are some chairmen with idiotic personalitys like this. some people have lost star players for a pittance because of this.
hullcitytigers
If it seems like an extraordinary offer for any player, regardless of financial status, the chairman is inclined to accept.
craigy18181
perhaps he also hates bendtner and wants shot of him.
andysharkey21
but 10m isnt much considering he is worth about 7m and described as a wonderkid. if anything i would expect the board and fans to be angry with me for selling him yet they bit off milans hand before i had chance. Nomis07
I don't see a problem with this, the negotiation you made is considered a price at which you'd be willing to sell, so perhaps the Chairman is just taking the bull by the horns. If he had accepted that bid without any input from you, it would be a more serious issue.
stevie_G_32201
the 50% of next sale is a big part of the reason i would think.
i_lendl
If you have 10 good strikers at the club anyway, I'm pretty sure the board and fans aren't going to be too unhappy if one of them ups sticks and poodles on over to Milan.
Neji
If you have so many good strikers then the chairman would be right to accept such an offer.
stevie_G_32201
listen to neji he knows what hes talking about he "seems" to know everything answering every question this board has known lol
rekluse
the 50% of next sale is a big part of the reason i would think. Unless Milan does the usual and he sits on the bench for a season or two and they sell him for 5m.
stevie_G_32201
Unless Milan does the usual and he sits on the bench for a season or two and they sell him for 5m. yes very true ive seen this myself but with barcelona. they paid 35m for a young regen never played him at all and released him on a free after his contract expired. Oxford_Canary
I fairly often find myself on the reverse end of this. At Barcelona I've become a bit free with cash and, while I still try to haggle, I don't really see it being a problem spending £20m on someone I know will be 3rd choice. This has meant on several occasions I've negotiated a big deal for a player and have offered whatever the opposing manager has proposed at which point the board steps in and accepts on the manager's behalf.
