New FIFA rule

Recommended Posts

I have been asking myself if this new rule of FIFA for coming qualification of World cup in South African Republic will be implemented in the game.

As you can see in this link-new regulation is that in qualification process first team players must have numbers from 1-11 and substitutes from 11-18.

NOTE:

You can see that in article 16.

Thanks,

this is like the idea of introducing goal line referees instead of goal line technology. Even FM uses goal line technology!!

The shirt numbers makes sense but each player should have their own number and not swap and change based on each game. Silly ideas form the organisations once more.

Actually no, there is no such rule.

Article 16 states that the numbers can't be higher than the number of players on the roster. Slightly different wording than the written rule, but that's the meaning behind it. It does not mean that the starters have to be 1-11 while the subs are 12-18. They already have announced that every player can still choose his number as long as it's 18 or lower.

You are connecting two things which have nothing to do with each other.

-Part one is that the eleven first-named players are the starters, while the rest are subs.

-Part two is that the number of the jersey has to be the same as the number the player has on the list. Which means that a player that has number 13 on the list, can't wear a jersey with no. 16.

Notice how it says "the eleven first named players", not "the players from 1-11".

It doesn't say:

1 player x

2 player y

3 player z

It says:

player x 13

player y 6

player z 8

In other words, the "numbers" from 1-11 are non-existant, you simply count until you have eleven players. Those numbers are not the same as the jersey-numbers.
