Standard Liege - Doing it in Belgium

With a lack of expetise in Belgium, I thought I would take the ferry from Hull to Zeebrugge, and a short train ride to Liege to take charge of the well known team in Liverpool, Standard Liege, mainly playing them because they beat Everton and almost Liverpool. I'm up to the end of August 2007, so I'll update you guys on how I'm doing so far, then a sort of match by match basis.

How does it feel living the comfort of the Premier League for a less known and frankly 'small time' league elsewhere in Europe?

It's different not knowing whats going on in the premier league, and your only interaction with premiership teams is more or less in European competitions. But its a good challenge and good to spread the horizon so to speak.

What do you think of your new signings Gancarczyk and Ajilore?

I know Ajilore is normally looked at by a number of european teams

Gancarczyk seems decent, Ajilore is possibly, bar Witsel, been our best player. Our defense has been shocking though

Are you looking to bring in any reinforcements in january?

are you looking to bring in a big name, or have you not got enough money.

How much money did you start off with??

How has the sale of Defour affected the team??

Around 75k, so selling Defour was good business I think.

I think the team respect the decision of the sale.

After recent press reports that Axel Witsel could be leaving for a top european club, what are your and Axel's thoughts on this?

Axel is happy at the club after what we and I believe to be a good season by himself. Unless there is a lot of cash involved, I will not sell him.

Why Did you sell both Fellaini & Defour, they were up and coming stars?

There was a lot of money involved, teams like us could do with that to help bolster our squad in other areas.
