It is time for me to start a new game to keep me busy until FM09 is released. So I have decided to run a sign up.

Lakshmi Narayan Mittal (http://richestmen.info/5.php) is the 5th richest man in the world and currently residing in Kensington Palace Gardens, London, UK.

Having seen Luton Town go into administration and being deducted 30 points Lakshmi decides to step in and back the teams new creditors LT2020, he publicly announces that he intends to turn Luton into one of London's top teams.

Backing his words with money, Luton town gets a massive revamp of the ground, its training facilities and its youth facilities. Several highly rated youngsters from around the world are brought into the youth team, some even show a promise as first team regulars, despite their tender age.

Game back ground
Luton will start the game on -30 points, a huge challenge to gain promotion lies ahead of them, but promotion is expected within 2 years.
They will receive a healthy bank balance a sugar daddy status and Lakshmi will take over as chairman.
The majority of their existing squad will be replaced with youth players created on this sign up, but some experienced older players will be signed on to tutor the younger players.
The game will be run with most of the major leagues in Europe turned on.
Huge database.
I will be using the Weegie update.
Sign up players will be given a PA of -10 and a CA of 80

Post your player format like this:

First Name: Real names please, very silly names will be ignored)
Second Name:
Position: As many positions or as few positions as you wish (remember that the more positions you have the more abilities that count against your CA). Also look at what has gone before you, it is pointless you all creating strikers when I am only playing 2 at a time
Height:
D.O.B: I would prefer all players will start out at 16, but it is your choice. 1991 starts you at 16
City of birth: Real places only
Nationality: Where ever you want, but EU is a preference
Other Nationalities:
Favourite Club(s):
Disliked Club(s):
Preferred foot: Choose your preferred foot, if you want to be able to use both feet, use points from your attributes below.
Attributes: You have 140 points to spend on as many or as few attributes as you want. You can just assign 20 to seven abilities if you want an easy life or you can divide the points up between any abilities you want. Be as clever as you wish here. Remember that the game will reduce some of these abilities after the game starts.

As the sign up goes on I will be asking regular posters if they wish to develop there own players training schedules or leave it to me, do they want to go on loan or stay at the club.

I play pretty slowly, so a season will take me a week or more, but I will do a winter and summer update.

I will start the game after I have enough players signed up to create a team.

I can add extra players into the game after it has started, but only if you use names that are already in the game, but the first and second names can come from different sources.

I was thinking of using Alan Shearer as a manager, but then it occurred to me that he probably would not go to a London Club.

Any suggestions for an ex-England international who is not a manager already who I could use as my profile?

Also if any of you have any bizarre squad numbers that you want to have when I am assigning them let me know.

ZJ, there are several other people who i am sure will create players, I see them on the other posts all the time. If I do get short of players I will give you all a shout.

Blowcrapup, Gazza came to my mind as well, I think he will be fun to play. Maybe we should of gone for Barnet with a pub on each corner of the ground?

Challenge changes

Based on the data base checks I have run to make sure the players and team are ok:
1) I have had to lower the reputation of Luton to a mid table level, otherwise the management wants us to get promoted in the first season. The -30 points is not hard coded, so they base their assumptions on the old Reputation of 4000.

The lowering in reputation will unsettle several of the existing players and make attracting staff a nightmare, so I will be signing some out of contract coaches and older players to the cause. Expect to be playing along side some old fading stars.

3) We ended up with a 198PA player in the test, shame it was not for real.

4) Expect some of us to be craptastic in the first few seasons, for example my guy for instance had a Mini Scout rating of 49, which is Sunday league football level. I will be keeping him in as a control player and leaving him as a free agent.

Note There are still spaces left, so far we have one young star for each position, any cover would be done by "real" players at the moment.

player pictures, if any of you would like to have a picture for your player, please feel free to post a link to the picture you want. I will add them into the game as we go along. A great sight with some pug ugly faces is the NFL players site.

Future Players, missed out on the start up? Well you can still be added in, I am limited to using names that are already in the data base, but that gives you a lot of combinations. I can add you in as new youth players each season. I will also replace any drop outs in this way.

Let The Luton Revival Begin

These are the words that echoed around the crowded press room as Chairman, billionaire industrialist, Lakshmi Narayan Mittal unveils his vision for the future of The Hatters. In fairness he cut an imposing figure, turned out immaculately in his pin stripe suit, still many of the gathered press could be heard to whisper questions about his qualifications to run a football team. No one there doubted that his financial backing could lead to great things, after all this is the man who holds two world records, the first is for owning the worlds most expensive house, a bargain at £70 million, the second being his daughters wedding, which set the record for the worlds most expensive at a princely sum of £60 million. If money equals power, then here is a man who could rival superman in a contest.

Lakshmi spoke elegantly and effortlessly as he detailed his plans to challenge the FA in court over their separate 10 and 20 points penalties inflicted because of the previous owners misdealing. He spoke in some length about how the 20 point deduction punished the clubs current management for their honesty in alerting the FA to irregularities by the previous management.

He then went on to reveal some of his new player coaches, a murmur went around the room as Jimmy Floyd Hasselbaink entered the room, followed by Gianluca Pagliuca and finally, but not least, by Giovanni. Between them, these 3 player/coaches held 80 international caps. Lakshmi waited for the assembled press to quite down before he introduced his next surprise, new manager Paul Gascoigne. Gazza entered the room smiling broadly like an inane idiot, the press burst into an excited chatter of conversation, several of them were seen to chuckle. What little faith Lakshmi had generated in his ability to run a football club was crushed in that moment, he had placed an alcoholic joker in charge of his team. Gazza slurred his words several times during the interview and many expected that he had taken a drop of Dutch courage before facing the cameras.

The headlines were not kind the next day.

Jimmy Floyd Hasselbaink (http://i144.photobucket.com/albums/r197/andrewhedley/jimmyfloydhasselbaink.jpg)

I thought about giving him international footballer status, but then I looked to see what the real Gazza entry had as his ratings, he had 2000 across the board.

This is probably a reflection of his failed previous attempts.

I am actually border line local, so expect that to appear on the next screen shot (assuming I last that long).

Last player being profiled, then screen shots on the way, takes ages, good job work is quite.

The coach report highlights that he is injury prone, which could hamper his development.
He has cracking physical attributes for a 15 year old

I like the look of this player, he has a good scout rating and is only hampered by his concentration, I expect to use him as a sub a few times in the first season, as his versatility in positions makes him a good person to have on the bench.
Another player that Mike Harford thinks has reached his potential, note to self, get a better Ass Man who can judge player potential ASAP

Note the change of first name to protect my sanity.
Theo is a bit of a mystery, he has points spent in the correct places to be a future star, but that has left his important attributes for his position to be very low.
He also has a rating of 17 for dirtiness, which is dangerous for someone listing DC as one of their positions.
Give Theo a few years and he will be awesome, but until then, he will struggle to get into the side, which might harm his development.
Possibly a loan candidate?

At 20 years old Jonny is the oldest sign up player, this has also hurt his growth, he only has 4 to 5 years to grow into a decent player.
At least his older age means he can go onto a heavier training schedule, but his high injury rating may be a problem if he is over taxed.
I am not sure how he will grow, but it needs to be fast, maybe Jimmy Ffloyd can have a word with him?
Was the age intentional? I can knock a few years off him if you want?

If any of the players dare leave, I will hunt them down and kill them...... erm, I mean of course I will follow their career.

I will also attempt to get them back to Luton in the future.

I intend to involve the sign up people as much as possible, so you get to decide if your player wants to go on loan rather than stay and not play first team football. You can choose your own squad number for life and your own training schedule.

You also get ultimate say over leaving the club when offers come in or me fighting to keep you there, even if that makes you unhappy.

I have currently offered every one pre contracts (or new contracts if they are old enough).

I am also surprised at how craptastic a lot of the old Luton team is, a few more of you will be starting than I originally expected.

Season 07/08 friendlies reports

Luton 0-2 Southampton
Gazza opened up is management account with a home game against Championship side Southampton. Despite shading the game on possession and shots Southampton emerged as 2-0 victors, thanks mostly to a fantastic performance from their keeper and strike force.
The team played well, but a poor performance by Claudio Sanchez earned him a rating of 5. Tom Smith opened his account with the first yellow card of the sign up.
The only other point of note was an injury to Yohann Pieterzoon in his 49th minute of his début. Yohann will be out for 4 to 6 weeks with a sprained ankle.

Stranraer 1-5 Luton
Luton then travelled to Stranraer who play in the third tier of Scottish Football. Stranraer scored in the first minute before Luton dominated the game and scored 5 to emerged worthy winners. Tom Crawford and Jonathan Soder got on the score sheet.

Crawley 0-2 Luton
A Blue Square Premier team were next to host Luton. Luton never got into top gear and cruised to an easy win. Jimmy FLoyd Hasselbaink getting 2 to make it 4 goals in 3 games.

Luton 0-1 Leicester
League 1 side Leicester were too much for Luton and never looked in danger of losing.

Porthmadog 0-3 Luton
The excellent named Welsh side Porthmadog were next, Luton won with ease, but disastrously lost, 5 goals from 5 games, top scorer Jimmy Floyd to injury in the 33rd minute. Jimmy is out for 5 weeks with a fractured arm after a tumble in the box.
Dan Gleballs and Jon Soder took up the slack and scored one a piece.

Stafford 0-5 Luton
The final game of pre-season was a trip to a team 2 leagues below them. Luton went into half time 5-0 up after a goal from Callum McCarthy and 2 each from Jon Soder and Robert Dawson.Tom Crawford was devastating in this game and got 2 assists from his many brilliant crosses. Luton switched off in the second half and never looked under pressure.

The season proper now starts, surprisingly Gazza has decided to open the season with most of his youngsters, relying on the experience of his 2 player coaches to pull the team through.

When does Pagliuca's playercontract expire? He seems to keep me out of the 1st-team-squad. He's over 40 years old - shouldn't he concentrate on coaching....

Season has started so your numbers have been assigned, sorry. I will post your tailored training when I alter it, so you can review it. Your turning into a right little long distance goal machine as you will see in the reports.

Paglica is going to keep both the sign up GK out of the first team for this season, to be fair neither of you are up to League 2 level. As it works at the moment you are being tutored by him and the other GK is in the first team as back up and will be the one getting some games. Next season this should change. I do promise to play you both in some easier games, so far the cup draws have not been kind.

Numbers already assigned last night, sorry.

I was going to do up dates every 6 months and list the key games, this changed last night. I play each match in full detail so a month takes a few hours, in addition the first 5 matches of the season have been important. So I will now do monthly updates.

The squad is the 3 player/coaches and 9 youth players rotating through, because some of them are under the age of 16 this has caused me a shortage in certain positions. Notably I am short of left sided defenders and attacking midfielders. I may look at retraining some of the players, we seem to have a large amount of Midfield/defenders, as usual I will check before this happens.

We do have one complete turkey in the squad who I have offered on loan, nobody wants him. Hopefully the board will get their finger out of their backside and give respond to my feeder club request so I can send him out on loan. To be honest he needs to be made younger as he is 20 and only has the same PA as the 15 and 16 year old players.

August Season 07 Key Matches and Events

League Game: Luton 5-0 Chester
First match of the Season sees Luton at home to Chester in a game they are expected to win. In 7 minutes Claudio Sanchez becomes the first sign up player to score, with an absolute screamer from 25 yards out. Haowan becomes the first player to score from a free kick on the 23rd minute, but it is a complete fluke that was supposed to be a cross into the box. Soder scores on the 43rd minute afer a fantastic cross from Griffiths-Smith. Dan Gleballs comes on at half time for the tired looking Soder and immediately gets an assist after a back pass to Giovanni in the first 45 seconds. Gleballs seems scared to shoot and constantly passes back out of the box until the 83rd minute when he gets some space and blasts one into the top left corner.
To say Luton dominated is an understatement, they had 26 shots at goal with 9 on target, Chester could manage only 1 shot in 90 minutes. 11 of the 14 Luton players scored 8.
An impressive start to the season.

Carling Cup First Round: Luton 3-1 Colchester
Luton were drawn at home against a team one league above them and were expected to lose. Gazza named an unchanged side and with in 4 minutes that faith was repaid when Haowan blasted the ball in from 25 yards out. A succession of corners final earned Luton a second goal, Crawfords cross into the box was picked up by a Colchester defender who was quickly disposed by Man of the Match Soder who then buried the ball in the back of the net.
Luton went in at half time 2 goals up with out reply and the home crowd were jubilant. Colchester decided to turn up for the second half and despite constant pressure they found them selves 3-0 down after substitute Gleballs nodded in a Crawford cross. Colchester managed a consolation goal in the 3rd minute of extra time.
Another stunning performance by the Hatters with the defence earning their money this match as both teams were tied on possession and shots. On another day this could of been a very different result.

League Game: Port Vale 1-1 Luton
The second league game of the season was a scrappy affair against highly rated Port Vale. This game was notable because manager Gazza sent the first half cheering on the wrong team after getting confused over Luton's away strip. Port Vale earned a draw after a very dubious penalty was awarded by referee Scott Mathieson. Soder was awarded his second man of the match award.

League Game: Luton 1-0 Bournemouth
Also know as the blood bath, this game saw the return of Jimmy Floyd who was injured after 33 minutes and an injury to Haowan saw them both replaced at half time. Nakano made his starting début and was injured on 60 minutes (he was left on 1% condition, which I have never seen before) and was substituted even though he could continue to play. Luckily all 3 players were not injured long term.

Carling Cup Second Round Plymouth 4-2 Luton
Plymouth ply their trade in the Championship and were the book makers clear favourites, the home crowd were stunned into silence when Haowan scored a free kick that flew into the top right corner from 40 yards out, the Plymouth GK never saw the ball until he picked it out of the onion bag. Plymouth turned up the pressure and the young Luton squad crumbled. The final score was a good reflection of the two teams performances and Luton were out of the Carling Cup.

September Season 07 Key Matches and Events

League Game: Barnet 1-1 Luton
Crawford opened the scoring on 30 minutes after his cross was deflected in by a Barnet defender, the goal was awarded as an own goal. It was an very even game with midfield dominating the play and depriving both sides of attacking play. Barnet scored an equaliser in the 87th minute after Medley got away from Holt in the box. The game finished all square, a result neither set of fans could complain about. Crawford won Man of the Match.

New feeser Club: Stevenage
Luton have there first feeder club, Stevenage are only a division below them.

Players called up to first squad
Tom Proctor and Robert Dawson both have 16th birthdays and get called into the first squad.

Giovani is injured in training
He is out for a month, which is good news for Dawson as he slots straight into his position.

Jonny Dean gets a MoM match in a reserves game. (http://i144.photobucket.com/albums/r197/andrewhedley/SeptemberJonnyDeangetMoM.jpg)

League Game: Luton 1-0 Brentford RIVALS!
Top of the table Brentford came to Kenilworth road, both sides cancelled each other out in a dull first half. Gazza did a lot of ranting at half time and sent his time out with a more attacking mentality. Luton instantly looked more threatening but could not get any shots on targets. Substitute Dan Gleballs broke the dead lock on 60 minutes after he got his head onto a Sanchez cross. Luton made Brentford look very average and Dan Gleballs was awarded a deserved Man of the Match.

League Game: Exeter 0-4 Luton
Exeter were going to have to park a bus in front of goal to get a result here and two and a half minutes is all it took Gleballs to head in a Griffiths-Smith cross to prove that point. Gleballs then nailed an opposition Defender who had to be stretchered off before slotting in his second goal on 10 minutes after a through pass from Haowan. Three minutes later Haowan hit an excellent dead ball into the net from 25 yards out to continue his long distance goal machine title. Haowan then set up Dawson who had found space on the edge of the box, Dawson slotted home his first goal for Luton to make it 4-0 after 16 minutes and that is how it stayed for the rest of the game. Gleballs was once again MoM.

League Game: Luton 0-0 Rochdale
Pieterzoon got MoM in a yawn of a game. Points lost.

League Game: Notts Co 1-1 Luton
Another game Luton were expected to win and another chance for Page to impress in goal in an all changed defence. Theo Stig stepped up and wore the arm band because both Captain Pagliuca and Vice Captain Holt were rested. Luton total dominated the first half, but it took something special from Griffihs-Smith to break the deadlock with a solo run from the half way line, rounding the keeper and slotting it home. Luton dominated the second half as well, but could not get the ball in the net, then County stole a point with their first shot on target in the 92nd minute of the game. Another 2 points lost. Griffiths-smith got a well deserved MoM.

October Season 07 Key Matches and Events

Players called up to first squad
Robert Jones is now 16 and is called into the first squad.

League Game: Luton 3-0 Rotherham
October started with a home game to mid table Rotherham, unbeaten Luton were full of confidence. Jones made his debut on the left of defence, relegating the inconsistent Sanchez to the bench.
8 mins. The game started well with a goal mouth scramble that led to the ball falling to an unmarked Haowan, he didn't need a second invitation and buried the ball in the back of the net.
17mins. The début of Robert Jones lasted exactly 17 minutes before he was helped off the pitch after falling awkwardly and injuring his arm, he was replaced by Sanchez. The manager looked concerned before he took a swig from a hip flask.
18 mins. Haowan fed the ball through the eye of a needle to set up Hasslebaink who muscled past 2 defenders to score a great goal. 2-0.
half time. The luton defence were superb, the Rotherham team were disposed every time they dare cross the half way line and were limited to 1 shot off target.
85 mins. Substitute "The Chopper" playing in the attacking midfield position scored his first ever goal for Luton with a bloody good shot launched from 25 yards out. Gazza is thinking of retraining him to help with the lack of players in that position.
Full time and a MoM for Haowan, the whole team deserved the award, especial the back four Sanchez, Holt, Proctor and Pieterzoon who limited Rotherham to 1 shot on target.

Extent of Jones Injury
Robert Jones is out for a month with a broken arm after only 17 minutes of professional play, how is that for unlucky?

League Game: Darlington 3-0 Luton
pre match quote, Madridstas Haowan- The Flamboyant forward has the ability to pose a constant threat to the opposition's back line.
20mins. Hasslebaink rises above the defence to head in a Crawford cross.
44mins. Giovanni and Stig pass the ball between each other 4 times before Giovanni wallops the ball into the net.
79mins. GK Sage hits a long ball up field which is picked up by Gleballs who beats the off side trap and Darlington GK to make it 3-0.
90mins. Nakano becomes the first sign up player to receive a Red Card for bringing down a Darlington striker when he was the last man.

Nakano fined Gazza fined Nakano 2 weeks wages for his professional foul in the previous game.

Johnstone's Paint Trophy South Second Round: Northampton 1-1(p) Luton
Luton got a bye into the second round and were then drawn against League one side Northampton who are expected to win heavily.
Gazza went for his strongest side.
10 mins. Griffiths-Smith scored after a long spell of attacking, the home fans were not happy.
13 mins. Northampton beat the offside trap and rounded the keeper to equalise.
16 mins. Haowan picks up an injury and is substituted at half time.
Full time. Despite having the best of the remaining game, Northampton did not score again and the match went to penalties.
Luton win on penalties!
MoM Griffiths-Smith.

Sanchez reaches yellow card limit.
This causes a problem at Left back for the next match.

First international call up (http://i144.photobucket.com/albums/r197/andrewhedley/octoberSamualPagegetscallup.jpg)

League Game: Luton 2-0 Bury
Bury come on their travels to an in form Luton.
9 mins. Chris Small, on his début, crossed the ball into the box for Hasslebaink to put in the goal.
16 mins. Giovanni passes a ball into box for Hasslebaink to slot home.
The Luton midfield and defence limited Bury to one shot off target to give Luton another well earned vctory. Sanchez earned an 8 in a great defensive display.

Sanchez becomes the first sign up player to make a team of the week (http://i144.photobucket.com/albums/r197/andrewhedley/octoberteamofweek.jpg)

League Game: Morecambe 5-2 Luton
Luton went into this game as favourites, but despite playing well they found them selves 2 goals down after 33 minutes.
Gazza did another rant and rave at half time and then hit the bottle while covering his eyes and crossing his fingers.
55 mins. Haowan set up Hasslebaink to pull one back as Gazza made changes and went all out attacking.
71 mins. Morecambe score a fantastic goal from 30 yards out.
80 mins. Morecambe pile on the miser and make it 4-1.
83 mins. Giovanni gets one back, surely only a concelation goal.
92 mins. Morecambe make it 5-2 from a corner to become the first league two team to beat Luton under Gazza's management, ending a run of 12 games unbeaten in the league.
The Luton defenders were rubbish, no need to mince words here, Pieterzoon and Stig both got 5's and Nakano and Holt only managed 6's. Terrible display.

Praise for the governor (http://i144.photobucket.com/albums/r197/andrewhedley/octoberpraiseforthegovner.jpg)

League Game: Luton 2-0 Lincoln
Luton are firm favourites against relegation threatened Lincoln, this should be a good chance to bounce back from the disappointment of the previous match.
30 mins. Luton dominated from the start and despite an injury to Sanchez went ahead from a Haasselbaink goal from a Chopper pass.
38 mins. Delgrado forced an own goal from a dangerous pass into the opposition box.
55 mins. Second yellow card for a Lincoln midfield.
To be honest Lincoln never looked likely to score, what a difference from the previous match.

All sign up stars are now 16 or older.

15 mins. Hasslebaink and Giovanni combine to make it 2-0.
28 mins. A McCarthy corner is headed in by Delgardo.
46 mins. Penalty! Holt brings down Lindfield in the box and injures him, the ref has no recourse but to give a penalty that Bournemouth convert. 3-1.
MoM for Delgardo.

57 mins. More woe for Luton as they concede a soft goal.
60 mins. Jones and Haowan play a one two before Jones uns into space and puts it below the out stretched keeper.
71 mins. A brilliant solo effort from Soder earns him a goal and gives Luton some breathing space.
81 mins. Gillingham score another goal to set up a tense last 10 minutes, Cletus is having a terrible game.
91 mins. Another great solo goal by Soder who runs from half way pursued by 3 defenders and slots the ball home.

Soder is the first sign up player to get a hat trick.

League Game: Accrington 1-1 Luton
Accrington sit 2nd in the League and will face a stern test for a vastly changed Luton side.
30 Mins. McCarthy scores to shock the Accrington fans into silence.
42 mins. Accrington score the equaliser after the ball pings around the box. The goal is off side and the FA remain silent over Gazza's rant.
The game ended all square which was a good reflection of both teams contribution.

Luton is looking good

Mathematically, if we keep this pace up, we have a chance to fight for a promotion spot.

(11 wins/17 games)(46 games) = about 30 wins
(5 draws/17 games)(46 games) = about 14 draws

(30 * 3) + 14 = 104

30 point deduction = 74 points

Not sure if we will only have 2 losses by the end of the season, but if we get more wins than draws the rest of the way, we have a chance!

Nakano not doing so well, but meh:p. KUTGW.

October was a decent month for Sanchez, bringing the average up towards 7, shame about the suspension for a yellow though, and losing the place in the team.

Looks like a playoff place is a posibility though, would be top without the points deduction.

Sure will, we seem to have a glut of DC to MC players and we only need 3 of them at any time. I am training two of the MC to play AMC, so you will eventually get more places there. An extra position of DL will also help, but you are right footed so would DR be a better choice?

I will add the squad list to each match from now on so you can all see when and where you played, as well as how you performed.

Thanks for keeping an eye for me at Stevenage.
Terras, your age may hamper your development, you are gaining CA at the same pace as the rest of the squad. We can either stick with it and see how you work out or we can knock a few years off your age to put you back in the same area as the other players. Stevenage are high flying, top of the league, this means you should get a lot of play, it also means that they will not be our feeder club next year as they will be in the same league (barring a miracle).

I have been doing the same maths, I honestly didn't think a play of place was possible.

Start of season we were 30 points behind 7th place, after 17 games we are now 19 points behind, so a gain of 11 points so far.
My dodgy maths makes it that if we carry on at the same rate we will be 29.75 points behind them after 46 games, How close is that!?!

FA Cup second round: Leicester 0-2 Luton (http://i144.photobucket.com/albums/r197/andrewhedley/DecemberLeicester.jpg)
Match Stats (http://i144.photobucket.com/albums/r197/andrewhedley/DecemberLeicester2.jpg)
Leicester are expected to pile on the misery for Luton Fans and take a comfortable win from the meeting. Hopefully we can turn this confidence against them.
To add extra spice, the Leicester GK is Conrad Logan who was sold from Luton at the start of the season.
We also met in pre-season where they took a 1-0 lead away.
11 mins. Stig throws him self in front of a shot and stops a certain goal.
15 mins Chris Small picks up a knock (potential head injury - 57% condition) and is substituted, Haowan comes onto the centre of the pitch and Giovani goes out wide.
18 mins. Nakano is penalised for holding and Leicester get a free kick in a dangerous place and force a brilliant save from Paglicua.
18 mins. From the goal kick Smith, Dawson and Haowan combine in the centre of the pitch before feeding the ball through to Hasslebaink on the edge of the box. Hasslebaink chips the rushing out keeper, GOOOOOOOAAAAAAAALLLLLLLLLLLL!

49 mins. Stig clears the ball behind for a corner and then clears the corner cross, he is having a good game.
52 mins. McCarthy fouled 25 yards out in prime Haowan territory, but the dead ball doesn't clear the wall.
60 mins. A free kick from 40 yards out finds Nakano in space on the edge of the box, he wheels round his defender and shoots into the far left of the net. Two Nil!!!! Nakano is delighted with his first ever goal, what a time to score it.
61 mins. Substitution, Sanchez on for a tired Smith.
64 mins. Hasslebaink shoots and it takes a great save to prevent another goal.
65 mins. Time to inject some fresh legs at the front, Soder on for Hasslebaink.
70-80 mins. 10 minutes of constant Luton pressure, but no goal to show for it.
83 mins. A Haowan corner finds Soder who puts the ball in the net, but the assistant raises his flag for a foul on the GK.
Full Time and Gazza is dancing with the fans.
Nakano gets a well deserved MoM.

League Match: Luton 3-1 Dag & Red (http://i144.photobucket.com/albums/r197/andrewhedley/DecemberDagRed.jpg)

22 mins. Hasslebaink goes down from a challenge and is injured (no injury icon, but 67% condition, may need subbing.
25 mins. Hasslebaink goal, his injury doesn't seem to ba problem. The goal came from some fantastic build up play, Smith, Dawson, Delgardo and Small passing the ball through midfield to creat the space.
32 mins. Stig wins a courner and Small almost scores from the kick.
36 minutes. Dag & Red miss an open goa, terrible marking from Nankano and Stig. The visitors strike partnership are causing Luton problems, time for some man marking.
37 mins. Jones throws him self in front of a strike and stops a goal.
Half Time. Hasslebaink replaced by Soder.

83 mins. End to end football with shots being saved at both ends.
Another 3 points in th bag and Haowan is MoM.#Luton are up to 20th.

65 mins. Giovanni and Soder on for an tired Crawford and a unimpressive Hasslebaink.
65 mins. Dawson brings down a Macclesfield striker in the box. Penalty is awarded, but it looked like a dubious decision. Sage the hero saves the shot!
A bore draw, Luton really should of won this one, points lost.
MoM Delgado gets MoM.

League Game: Chesterfield 1-2 Luton (http://i144.photobucket.com/albums/r197/andrewhedley/DecemberChesterfield.jpg)
Chesterfield are on a poor run and moral is low.
23 mins.Luton have been totally dominant, but a Haowan mistake in midfield gives Chesterfield a break and a chance at goal. Only an great interception from a tracking back Jones stops a goal shot.
24 mins. Haowan tries a long range shot, but it is closer to the corner flag than it is to the goal, the Chesterfield fans taunt him.
28 mins. Haowan silences the opposing fans with a great shot after being set up by a selfless Small pass. It is the Luton fans turn to shout Haowans name.
Half time. Jones is not impressing, lets hope a good talk can raise his game.
46 mins. Hasslebaink forces a great save after some brilliant midfield build up play.
53 mins. Chesterfield are playing long balls over the Luton back four and it is taking some desperate tracking back to prevent the break.
60 mins. Chris Small is taken out by a dangerous challenge, Gazza has to be restrained by the 4th official when the ref doesn't even award a yellow card.
Substitutions. Small has a potential knee injury and is replaced by Pieterzoon who is playing out of position in the AMR role. Sanchez and Soder come on for Hasslebaink and Jones.
66 mins. Brilliant one touch football by Sanchez, Crawford, and Haowan sets up Soder who drills the ball under an out stretched keeper. The assistant rules it out, but it was never off side.
71 mins. Constant pressure by Chesterfield is rewarded with a goal, to rub salt into the wound it is off side but the assistant keeps his flag down. 1-1. Gazza spits his dummy out of the pram, he is clearly not happy with the assistant.
80 mins. Chesterfield go 4-2-4 in an attempt to get the winner. Both sides are playing very attacking football now, this could go either way.
92 mins. Penalty! Derek Niven holds back Dawson and is sent off with his second Yellow. Stig steps up and keeps his calm to make it 2-1.
Full time. Haowan gets MoM.

Merry Christmas!
We are 19th, how is that for a present?

League Game: Luton 0-0 Wycombe (http://i144.photobucket.com/albums/r197/andrewhedley/DecemberWycombe.jpg)
Wycombe are in 7th place, which is our new target, so we must win this game!
Hasslebaink is out of form and is dropped. Soder starts and Griffiths-Smith goes onto the bench. Nanko replace Stig in defence and Haowan sits this one out on the bench as he looks tired, Giovanni fills his boots.
Pre-match. Soder is told he needs to perform if he wants to keep his spot.
20 mins. Luton start well, Soder in particular is working his socks off.
25 mins. Wycombe start to work their way into the game and win a succession of corners and free kicks in dangerous positions.
33 mins. Luton get back on top and win a brace of corners with no return.
39 mins. Dawson gets the ball in the net, but play is brought back for a Soder foul.
Half time. Gazza is disappointed with the first half performance and lets them know as much. In particular Soder and Nakano feel his fury.
66 mins. Haowan replaces Soder up front. Sanchez replaces Nakano.
94 mins. Wycombe get a corner with seconds left on the clock, it is cleared for another corner by Sanchez and it is all over. 0-0.
Another MoM for Delgado.

League Game: Bradford 2-4 Luton (http://i144.photobucket.com/albums/r197/andrewhedley/DecemberBradford.jpg)
Bradford are top of the table, so this will be a bloody hard match. A loss here will seriously dent any promotion hopes. Our last five games away form is currently the best in the league, so we have a glimmer of hope.
Soder keeps his place in hope of an improvement in form.
1 min. Giovanni blasts one at goal, it goes into the top row of the crowd.
2 mins. Giovanni lets fly with another shot, this one is a sweet as a peach and we are ahead, great vision from Soder to pick him out.
9 mins. The ball falls kindly to Soder, who under pressure lets one rip and wins a corner from the diving keeper.
10 mins.TWOOOOOOOO-Nil! Giovanni gets his second.Smith picks him out in space and the rest is simple for the Brazilian.
17 mins. Bradford force a greay save from Sage after a deflected shot hits the post and falls to their striker.
38 mins. Against the run of play Bradford win a corner. Sage gets a finger to the shot but only tips it into the goal. Bradford are back in the game. 1-2
43 mins. Lutons turn. Crawfords corner is met with a diving header from Dawson and it is 3 for Luton.
44 mins. Jones crosses to Giovanni who flicks it on to Soder, Soder takes a couple of touches then shoots. GOOOOOAAAAAALLLL! Soder kisses his badge and thumps the air, you can see what that goal means to him.
51 mins. Small is on a mission, he is chasing every ball and making some fantastic tackles. Great play by the youngster.
62 mins. A through ball by Smith allows Soder to beat the off side trap but after running half the pitch he shoots right into the keepers arms.
65 mins. Jones is having a nightmare on the left. Luckily Frith, Nakano, Delgado and Smith are balling him out. Sage is doing fantastic saving every thing that gets through him.
Subs: Sanchez, Pieterzoon and Haowan on for Jones, Giovanni and Small.
75 mins. Gazza is waving good bye to the Bradford fans who are leaving in disgust.
82 mins. Soder has another goal ruled out for off side. Some cracking build up play is forcing fantastic saves from the Bradford keeper as Luton look for a 5th.
(NOTE TO SELF) put some one on the near post for corners.
85 mins. A rare miss-understanding in defence. Delgado plays a pass the ball across the goal mouth to Sage who miss reads it and the ball runs onto Riza who scores what can only be a consolation at this point.
A great victory for Luton to Bring December to a close.

Random Thoughts

1) I never expected us to be in with a chance of promotion in the first year, I chose the 80 CA as this was a good level of ability for a top half team and with development you would all be awesome in the second season in League 2.

2) Development, to reach your potential of 170 PA (or higher) I need you all to gain a minimum of 12 CA year (if you start at 16 years old). My predictions were:

07/08 League 2, CA 80 average age 16
08/09 League 2 CA 92 average age 17
09/10 League 1 CA 104 average age 18
10/11 League 1 CA 116 average age 19
11/12 Championship CA 128 average age 20
12/13 Championship CA 140 average age 21
13/14 Premiership CA 152 average age 22
14/15 Premiership CA 164 average age 23

So by this stage of the season you must all have a CA of at least 86 to be on target, obviously promotion in the first year will screw this up.

3) Reputation. I started with a reputation of 3000 (lowered from 4000 to stop me being sacked). Because of our current league placing we have only gained 11 points in half a year.

I think I stated on the first page that I will follow the players who leave and try and recapture them.

They will be limited to updates like I do for the players who are on loan.

I will also try and get them back at the team in the future, they will only leave with a buy back clause.

I agree, after 23 games we are 16 points behind, so we have gained 14 points, that means we are on target for 28 by years end. We need the 5th to 9th place teams to have a poor run.

January Season 07 Key Matches and Events

Happy New Year

League Game: Chester 1-0 Luton (http://i144.photobucket.com/albums/r197/andrewhedley/JanuaryChester.jpg)
Match stats (http://i144.photobucket.com/albums/r197/andrewhedley/JanuaryChester2.jpg)
Chester are below us in the League so this should be a sure win.
36 mins. Famous last words, Chester win a free kick on the edge of the box from a Nakano foul and they score from the dead ball.
66 mins. Subs, Frith, Griffiths-Smith and Sanchez on for Haowan, Nakano and Jones.
Rubbish match, we played like a team of school boys. Gazza rants at the players, he then goes on to criticise several of them in the press in the following week.

Gleballs loaned to a rival (http://i144.photobucket.com/albums/r197/andrewhedley/JanuaryGleballsgoeonloan.jpg)
Gazza has loaned out Dan Gleballs to play-off rivals Bournemouth. Gazza refused to comment on his reasons for strengthening a rival to promotion.

FA Cup Third Round: Yeovil 0-1 Luton (http://i144.photobucket.com/albums/r197/andrewhedley/JanuaryYeovil.jpg)
Match stats (http://i144.photobucket.com/albums/r197/andrewhedley/JanuaryYeovil2.jpg)
Luton visit League One Yeovil who are expected to win with home advantage.
Gazza changes his central defence and rotates a few other players.
1 min. Proctor commits a foul on the edge of the box and gives a free kick in a dangerous position. The wall does its job.
10 mins. Yeovil continue to apply the pressure.
30 mins. Proctor gets a yellow card after another foul. Yeovil are still on top of the game. Luton can't get a shot on target.
38 mins. The Chopper on his return to the team rewards the manager with a great goal, a ball from Pieterzoon finds him on the box with space and he releases a fierce shot.
50 mins. Haowan forces a great save from a direct free kick from over 30 yards out.
60 mins. Luton are playing with a lot of confidence, the midfield are knocking the ball around well.
61 mins. Subs Frith and Griffiths-Smith on for Smith and Haowan.
87 mins. Despite having the best of the rest of the match, Luton could not put the game beyond Yeovil.
89 mins. Spuckler has to react quickly to smother a dangerous ball.
93 mins. Yeovil throw every thing at Luton, including the kitchen sink, but to no avail.
Chopper gets MoM.

League Game: Luton 2-0 Barnet (http://i144.photobucket.com/albums/r197/andrewhedley/JanuaryBarnet2.jpg)
Match Stats (http://i144.photobucket.com/albums/r197/andrewhedley/JanuaryBarnet.jpg)
Next up is 4th place Barnet, who Luton managed a draw against earlier in the season.
Luton fielded an unchanged side.
10 Mins. Small is hacked down with a two footed challenge from Gillet, who receives a red card for his troubles.
Half Time. Barnet have been besieged in their own half as Luton make their extra man count, but they go in on equal terms.
52 mins. Haowan feeds the ball to Hopper who gets into space and shoots with power from distance. Dead lock broken.
60 mins. Subs Haowan moves up front and Soder is replaced by Griffiths-Smith. Frith replaces Smith.
66 mins. frith wastes a great chance to make it two by shooting wide.
84 mins. Crawford crosses and Hopper heads it in following a long spell of constant pressure.
A great result, 10 men Barnet were limited to 1 shot at goal. Chopper (who is playing remarkably cleanly) gets a MoM.

League Game: Luton 5-1 Port Vale (http://i144.photobucket.com/albums/r197/andrewhedley/JanuaryPortVale.jpg)
Next up is another team we drew 1-1 against earlier in the season. Vale are languishing in 17th in the league.
Nakano comes into defence for suspended Proctor (5 yellows)
Giovanni replaces a rested Hopper.
6 mins. In the torrential rain Holt plays a brilliant long ball over the Vale Back four for Soder to run onto, despite having yards to make up he gets to the ball first. Jinking right he blasts the ball from outsider the area. Soder slides across the soaked grass in celebration.
24 mins. Soder finds him self some space for Giovanni to pass into and after taking a few touches shoots. 2-0. Vale claim it is off side and they might have right to be aggrieved.
40 mins. Sloppy defending by Nakano as he loses his man and gives him a free shot at goal. 2-1
45 +1 mins. Crawford moves inwards dragging his marker with him, Sanchez runs into the space, He receives the ball from a Haowan pass and with all the time in the world crosses into the box. The high ball is met by a leaping Soder who earns his hat trick.
62 mins. Luton start the second half dangerously and Vale have to clear their line several times. The Luton attacking force are dwelling on the ball, inviting fouls from the Vale defence who earn two yellow cards for their cause. So the Gaffer makes some changes.
Subs. McCarthy, Delgardo and griffiths-Smith on for Pieterzoon, Haowan and Crawford.
68 mins. A Griffiths-Smith shot clatters of a Vale defender into the path of an on rushing Giovanni. 4-1.
88 mins. It is all Luton. A Sanchez free kick is deflected by the wall, the Vale GK parries it and Griffiths-Smith picks up the loose ball and fires at the keeper who can only push it into the net.
No prizes for guessing that Soder is MoM

League Game: Bournemouth 2-4 Luton (http://i144.photobucket.com/albums/r197/andrewhedley/JanuaryBournemouth.jpg)
Luton have met Bournemouth twice already this season and have one both games, so confidence is high that they can beat the 9th placed team.
2 mins. Bournemouth allow, Captain for this match, Haowan to run 40 yards with the ball un-challenged, even when he reaches the box, no one attempts to challenge him. Haowan does not squander the gift and scores. A slightly bemused Luton side celebrate.
15 mins. Luton have several good scoring chances denied them before Soder picks up on a bad defensive pass. He runs into the box and chances a shot at the rushing out keeper, the ball is parried but Soder leaps over the now stricken keeper and fires into the empty net. Great solo effort.
18 mins. From the restart Bournemouth come alive and their attacking play is rewarded with a headed goal from a free kick.
23 mins. Another Bournemouth free kick results in a goal, terrible marking as the goal scorer had acres of space and time.
31 mins. Spuckler belts the ball up pitch and Haowan latches onto the ball, beats the off side trap and drives in a low right foot effort. Luton are back ahead.
44 mins. Pieterzoon to Crawford, Crawford to Small, Small to an unmarked Haowan and it is a Hat trick for the young Spaniard. The smile on his face tells the whole story.
53 mins. Bournemouth hit the bar, the rebound falls to their forward who blasts it at goal, Spuckler reacts quickly to tip it over. Gazza is yelling at his defenders to get organised and the Luton bench are warming up.
Subs. Frith on for Nakano, Delgdo on for Pieterzoon and Dawson on for Soder.
60 mins. Gazza experiments and asks the front 3 Luton plaers to rotate positions as they wish.
(Note to self, corner routines are still not working, I refuse to use the challenge keeper flaw).
65 mins. Luton press and are rewarded with 4 corners, all of them come to nothing.
73 mins. Sanchez makes a great sliding tackle to deny a goal.
74 mins. Bornemouth are throwing it all at Luton. It is Proctors turn to get in a key tackle.
90 +1 mins. Sanchez show boats on the ball and loses possession, The GK has to dive to save the resulting shot, luckily Proctor is there to tidy up the parry.
Brilliant result as 4th and 8th lose and 5 place draws, leaving Luton 12 pints off a play off place.
MoM for the hat trick hero.

No prize for guessing who makes the team of the week. (http://i144.photobucket.com/albums/r197/andrewhedley/JanuaryTeamoftheweek2.jpg)

Sanchez and Soder both share the same birth date. Turning 17 they sign professional contracts. They are joined by Spuckler 2 days later.

FA CUP 4th Round: Luton 1-1 Man City (http://i144.photobucket.com/albums/r197/andrewhedley/JanuaryManCity.jpg)
A big game and no one thinks Luton can be Lion Killers, still worth a £100 bet on Luton to win as it will net you a £1000 return.
Can Luton or Port Vale make it into the next round to keep League 2 hopes alive?
Gazza plays safe and names and unchanged side, choosing continuity over fresh legs.
2 mins.Luton start brightly enough and even have the first shot by Soder which is well wide.
3 mins. At the other end Nakano takes the ball off Robinho's feet to prevent a shot.
8 mins. The visitors are allowing Luton too much time on the ball and Giovanni forces a save from Hart.
17 mins. Sanchez sends Wright-Phillips sprawling and Man City are awarded a free kick on the right. Petrov crosses the ball into the box and Pandev goes down under a Proctor challenge. The ref and lines man look at each other before awarding a penalty. Sanchez and Gazza are not happy. Elano stepped up and slots it home.
22 mins. Soder lets fly with another long range shot, at least he is getting closer to the goal.
45 +2 mins. Wright-Phillips gets fee in the box only to have his shot saved by Spuckler.
47 mins. A Robinho shot beats Sanchez, but proctor is there to clear it off the line.
51 mins. Luton have switched off. A Pandev shot clatters off the upright and is cleared by Nankano.
69 mins. Subs. Frith, Jones and Dawson on. Sanchez, Nakano and Haowan off.
74 mins. Unbelievable! One of the substitutes, Dawson, picks up the ball in midfield, under pressure from Ben-Haim and Garrido, he muscles past them both to fire a shot across goal. Soder holds off Richards and passes the ball into the left of the net. Luton are level and we have a game on our hands.
80 mins. Man City go 4-2-4 to try and snatch a goal
81 mins. A Johnsone corner meets Micah Richards head, but Sanchez is alert to the danger and pushes it over the bar. The repeat corner is a carbon copy of the first, but Sanchez holds it this time.
Full Time. Luton earn a replay, Gazza is ecstatic, you would of thought he had won the cup.
MoM for Soder, but I would of given it to Dawson for his assist.
Port Vale are knocked out by Birminghm.

Let us hope the ban is not when we get the replay. (http://i144.photobucket.com/albums/r197/andrewhedley/JanuaryTouchlineban.jpg)

League Game: Luton 1-1 Exeter (http://i144.photobucket.com/albums/r197/andrewhedley/Januaryexeter.jpg)
The last game of January sees struggling Exeter visit. Luton beat them away 4-0 earlier in the season.
Gazza names a heavily changed side as he prepares to sit this one out in the directors box. As the match begins he can be seen to be propping up the bar.
4 mins. Gazza orders a pint of Bitter as Giovanni passes the ball to Soder, who under pressure takes his time to shoot and score. Goal!! Gazza leaps around the box.
25 mins. Gazza starts his second pint. On the pitch Soder and Giovanni are combining very well, they have now had 7 shots at goal.
Half Time. Exeter have yet to have a shot, unlike Gazza who is now on Whiskey chasers.
60 mins. Still no goal attempts for Exeter, Gazza is now trying to get some of the bar staff to repeat he infamous "Dentist Chair". Luton are in command, but can not get that second goal to kill the game off.
67 mins. Soder needs physiotherapy and looks to be labouring. Gazza needs the toilet and looks to be staggering.
70 mins. Exeter finally force a save from Page and win a corner.
71 mins. sanchez on for Soder?? Our Ass man is an idiot. DM for FC! Gazza calls him several unpleasant names.
83 mins. Luton still can't get the ball in the net when Exeter break and Sage has to pull off a brilliant save to keep a clean sheet.
88 mins. The inevitable happens. Exeter score with only there second shot on target, Holt blocks the shot but it still pitches into the goal mouth.
90 mins. Ass man waists time by making a double substitution, f-ing idiot.
Points dropped for Luton, Pints downed for Gazza.
MoM for Soder.

At least our Ass Mans contract is up at the end of this season. He will not be getting a new one.

You are rather delicate, so the opposition try and break you.

You have a great work rate, so you run up and down the wing all match, I play with zero Creative Freedom so it limits you to a one dimensional role. I am just getting you to cut inside, which gives space on the wings for the DR behind you.

CA wise you have grown well, one of the biggest improvements, not a huge jump in Mini Scout ratings, but Genie likes you.

It is hard to mention every ones role in the game, the wingers only really get written about when they get a good cross in.

You are also worth £325k, 7th highest in the squad, no one wants to buy you yet.

Woohoo, I keep scoring. Given the formation I suit it very well. high jumping for crosses, high anticipation to take rebounds from other people's shots and good composure and technique once I get fed in the box. Hopefully I can keep improving a bit and stay in the team, I much rather be there than with any AI teams and go back on their general training scheme. I need heavy strength/aerobics and finishing/technique training at the moment.

Your lasting remarkably well and are by far the best straight forward in the team after Hasslebaink and I have decided to limit the 3 older players involvement as much as possible. I tend to sub you at around 60 mins to inject more pace. You are on a heavy fitness schedule but it has little effect, I was confused about the feet as well, it let some stay both footed and lowered others, no idea if it can increase, can't say I have ever tracked it before.
The front man is a target man who should lay the ball off for the rushing forward AMC, You need to get stronger to fill this role in higher leagues, but at this level you are great.

Your correct, I did mean you not Sanchez, I have made the decision to play youth over the older players where ever possible. I am currently rotating you both on 10 match schedules, you obviously got one match extra. This does mean you miss the Man City replay, which is good news for your record as it was not pretty.

He is now unconvincing as an AMC, but he does suit the role very well, I am surprised at how little you foul, I thought you would be a lot more dirty. I am going to start using you to replace Giovanni in the AMC role over the next few matches as I am led to beleive you need to play the position you are training in to develop correctly.

To be honest, Sanchez is the second best player in the sign up squad based on mini scout ratings, only Hawan beats you. I like your versatility which is why you are on the bench rather than starting. You are rather injury prone and terribly inconsistent, but that might develop with time.

The front man is a target man who should lay the ball off for the rushing forward AMC, You need to get stronger to fill this role in higher leagues, but at this level you are great.

Don't worry about the fitness schedule, it will take about 2-3 seasons for it to take real effect and the only difference then will be 1, possible 2 points higher than if you would go for a "average" training schedule. I've noticed that with training youngsters that they are slow to gather the points in physicals than in other areas but they will get there eventually. It does however make a difference in the end, that much I'm sure off.

I agree about subbing me at around 60 on or off which is roughly what I think the player can handle. Combined with the training schedule I think I might be tired towards the end of the season, be sure to give me a 3 day rests every 2-3 weeks so I'll stay fit.

I don't think I'll function to well in holding the ball up. I might be alright now but later my passing/creativity/decisions and strenght isn't good enough to make it work. However, with my good Off the Ball and decent on both feet I will probably have time on the ball once I get it so that makes up for a bit. Other than that I think I'll do well just generally being alone up there, feeding of crosses, rebunds and passes the AMC can slid into the box.

Enjoying this, especially the gazza reflections to it as well. :)

Just out of interst how is Robert Dawson developing?

Pretty well, almost as good as Giovanni now, you and Haowan are first first choice AMC's

Enjoying this, especially the gazza reflections to it as well. :)

Cheers, It has perked my interest in the game again.

If you believe the start up screen, this season has taken me 32 hours so far. Up dates will slow down Tuesday to Saturday as dictated by my work schedule.

More random thoughts.

1) I am thinking of allowing all the players to choose one PPM to add to their profile each season for the first 5 or 6. How do you all feel about this?

2) You are all developing about the correct speed, some of you have gained your target of 12 CA already, others have a few points to go and one or two have managed 15 plus already. Ironically it looks like tutoring has slowed a Theo Stigs development even though it went well. The full backs are going slowest.

3) Start thinking of any screens you want to see in the end of season update, I will do all the obvious club and player screens, but anything obscure you all want? I guess end of season will be around Wednesday/Thursday at this rate.

4) How do we deal with sign up players who have not posted, what do you all recommend I do with these, so far I have one person who has not posted? I was thinking if you don't post for a whole season (unless you are away or otherwise busy) I will lower their PA to +20 above their current CA and pop them into the reserves. If they return I can restore your previous PA, but it will harm their development. I can then replace the missing sign up player with a new Youth player who can come through the ranks.
Any other ideas of how to deal with them? I obviously do not want people to post for the sake of posting, but I do like the idea that sign ups are interactive and not passive.

Yeah I'm good with adding PPM. You could make it reward based but this would mean one player could end up with loads of them.

I just kicked them out in my sign up when I decided enough was enough as 2 rarely posted and 1 had never posted.

Like PPMs, I'd love to have one or two as long as I can choose em :). Don't think we should be allowed to add too many PPMs though, maybe 1 every other season or so so we'll end up with 1-3. 6 is slightly excessive.

Regarding those that don't post, do as you please. I'm not too bothered about anyone else as long as the team is doing well. If it allows others to have more players or get new active poster in I'm all in favour of getting rid of them.

1 - I like the idea of some PPM's but agree that one every other season is enough.

2 - Excellent, Gazza's drunken ramblings are obviously not having a negative effect on the progress of the players.

3 - I currently can't think of any screenshots except the obvious ones that I would like to see.

4 - I think anyone who hasn't posted at all this season should be impeded in some way so that the people taking part in the sign up and posting now and again have more chance of their players getting into the first team. Your idea of reducing their CA is a good one, you could also send them out on loan to the feeder club to ensure they don't start over someone who posts in the thread.

Loving the updates so far Lambsy, excellent stuff

Didn't check this at all yesterday, but I'm back today. :D

Anyway, a PPM sounds good to me if it's good with everyone else. If not, no big thing.

As for the no-posters, here's my take. Part of the entertainment is reading various people's reactions to their created players' (mis)fortunes. I'd be in favor of adding another active player/poster.

Anyway, here's hoping we can pull the magic upset in the replay.

Lots of new posts since last night. So much to catch up on. Shame about the loss against chester, but other than that january was quite a good month. Its also nice to see Luton have a nice and healthy goal difference. I'm very happy at my pass completion % of 84%. Only 3% behind the great Giovanni. Brill.

Also, could I ask for a brief summary of i'm doing? It seems to be the current trend. Thanks, and kutgw. This is a really good sign-up.

Tom Smith is rotating with Theo Stig at the moment, he is now able to play AMC through to DM and has gained the required 12 CA already. Only Chopper is better in the role according to Mini Scout.

February Season 07 Key Matches and Events

League Game: Rochdale 0-1 Luton (http://i144.photobucket.com/albums/r197/andrewhedley/FebruaryRochdale.jpg)
Top of the table Rochdale are next up, we drew against them 0-0 earlier this season.
12 mins. Chris Small gets free on the right wing and crosses into the box, Haowan is beaten to the ball by Ferry who clears the ball only as far as Dawson on the edge of the box. Dawson lets rip with a half volley using his left foot, one nil.
15 mins. Holt loses his man on the edge of the box but the shot screws far right.
22 mins. Le Fondre gets free again, Firth is way out of place and Holt is wrong footed, the shot flys high.
34 mins. Another dangerous cross by Rochdale, they are taking the game to Luton.
Half time. Luton are ahead, but it is not going to last at this rate.
Gazza gets the team to go more attacking, with a quick direct game, he also instructs them to close down earlier.
57 mins. Rochdale are still on top, but Luton are getting more of the ball. Haowan gets a free kick and forces a good save.
Subs. On Sanchez, Crawford and Giovanni. Off Hopper, McCarthy and Soder.
75 mins. The changes seem to be working. Good spell of possession for Luton.
82 mins. Jones fouls out wide and Holt has to clear into touch to avert a goal, he has been much better since half time. The corner cross is a won by Rochdale, but the header goes into the side net.
Full time. Good result, Luton had the better of the game after half time. Dawson gets the MoM.

Pieterzoon gets his first international game and a MoM (http://i144.photobucket.com/albums/r197/andrewhedley/FebruaryGuamU21s.jpg)

Samuel Page turns 17 and signs a professional contract

FA Cup Third Round: Man City 4-0 Luton (http://i144.photobucket.com/albums/r197/andrewhedley/FebruaryManCity.jpg)
Match stats (http://i144.photobucket.com/albums/r197/andrewhedley/FebruaryManCity2.jpg)
Next up we travel to Manchester City for the FA Cup match and we are expected to get spanked. Gazza is not confident.
15 mins. All Man City but so far they have not managed a shot on target.
22 mins. Luton force a good save from Hart from a Dawson shot. Hart passes the ball to Jo, Jo pushes it wide to Robinho who runs unchallenged into the box. He passes the ball to Pandov who muscles Holt out of the way and slams the ball into the net. 1-0.
24 mins. Soft goal conceded. Robinho is still not being picked up and he passes the ball to Palacio who gets past a sprawling Firth and fires into the far bottom right corner.
28 mins. A cutting pass by Elano sets up Palacio for a great solo effort, but it is ruled out for off side, that was a tight call.
30-35 mins. Backs to the wall defending by Luton, this is going to be a cricket score unless Gazza can pull off a miracle.
40 mins. Good build up play by the Luton midfield, I counted 9 passes to set up Soder who with time and space shoots right into the keepers arms.
42 mins. End to end stuff. Pandev forces a Sage save then a Holt block before Haowan blasts one over the bar at the other end, it was a pity he was not in a Rugby match as that would of been a great conversion.
52 mins. It is all over for Luton. Wright-Phillips is given time on the wing and he passes it to Robinho who gets around his man and scores.
58 mins. Great bit of dirty play. Jones tries to kill Robinho on the wing and leaves him rolling on the grass, the ref waves play on. Gazza thumps the air in joy.
Subs. On Sanchez, Crawford and Giovanni. Off Pieterzoon (tired), Frith (ineffective) and Soder (ineffective).
60 mins. Pandev beats the offside trap and it is 4-0.
62 Mins. it is Dawsons turn to get free and hit one right at the keeper, not once but twice in succession.
70 mins. Man City have took their foot off the gas and Luton are looking for a "cheer the fans up" goal. A goal mouth scramble almost rewards them but Hart is having a wonder keeper match and blocks all three shots.
Full Time, the match stats do the game justice, it was superior finishing by Man City that amde the difference. 4-0 is not a bad result against a team 3 leagues above us.

Take heart from our defeat (http://i144.photobucket.com/albums/r197/andrewhedley/FebruaryManCity3.jpg)

League Game: Rotherham 2-0 Luton (http://i144.photobucket.com/albums/r197/andrewhedley/FebruaryRotherham-1.jpg)
With only the league to play for, Gazza was keen to impress on the players that a play off place was just out of reach unless they picked up their game. We can not suffer any more defeats or drop any silly points on draws that we should win.
with that point drilled into their heads we boarded a coach to the Don Valley Stadium home to Twelve placed Rotherham.
Giovanni was dropped from the squad, who now had an 18 year old as oldest player in the starting 11.
The low stamina of the squad was now starting to show and many of them are starting on 90-94% condition and the morale of the back four was low after their mauling at Man City the previous match.
11 mins. Rotherham started well, Small and McCarthy were stifled on the wings and they were pouring forward on the break. The opening goal came when Stig conceded a free kick right on the left edge of the box, Sinclair jumped clear of Jones and headed the ball over a flat footed Sage.
13 mins. Small does a super man impression and dives in the box, he gets a card for his trouble and a phone call after the match to inform him he is up for an Oscar next week as best supporting actor.
15 mins. Good play by Luton, A McCarthy cross is headed across the goal moth by Hopper for Soder to shoot right into the Rotherham keepers safe hands, Gazza is shaking his head, that really should of been a goal.
21 mins. A good spell of domination by Luton results in Dawson hitting the upright with a 25 yard shot, the keeper was no where near it.
23 mins. A Rotherham break is on, Cox is clear with only the goal keeper to beat, from no where Holt charges, making up several yards and slides in a telling tackle knocking the ball into touch. Relief on the away fans faces. Rotherham waste the resulting corner.
29 mins. Another good chance for Rotherham, Luton clear the ball, but it falls to Troisi who shoots just wide.
36 mins. Luton are on the ropes, Soder squanders another good chance then at the other end it is park a bus in front of the goal time as Rotherham gt 3 chances in a row.
Half time. It has been a bad half for Luton, on paper it looks an even match, but Rotherham will win this unless something changes. Gazza changes the role of Soder, asking him to run onto the ball and not hold it up. He also gets the midfield three to rotate positions.
63 mins. Luton have stated better, yet still they can not get the ball in the net. Time for some changes.
Subs. On Haowan and Sanchez. Off Dawson and Soder (both on a 6).
66, Stig gives another free kick away on the edge of the box with some shirt pulling. Gazza is livid. A goal mouth scramble follows and Luton are 2 down.
Subs. Off Stig(responsible for both goals) on Smith.
With nothing to lose, Gazza goes for a very attacking 4-4-2.
Full Time. Points lost. Gazza gives them hell in the changing room then heads off to the pub.

The Play Off Dream is over, mid table is the best we can hope for now.

Luton 3-0 Darlington (http://i144.photobucket.com/albums/r197/andrewhedley/FebruaryDarlington.jpg)
We beat Darlington three nil last time out. Gazza is really annoyed with the squad at the moment and can't be bothered to talk to them, useless toss pots.
7 mins. Luton have had 3 shots at Goal with two of them on Target, yet still they can't find the back of the onion bag. This is turning into a drought.
13 mins. It starts to drizzle! Pieterzoon and Small are working the right wing well. Peiterzoon floats a pin point cross into the box which is met be the diving head of Soder. Darlington are protesting that it is off side and they have a right to be aggrieved.
20 mins. Soder is back on form, firing the ball right at the keeper.
23 mins. Proctor gets a fantastic chance but it is cleared of the line by the last man.
37 mins. Small works the right touch line again and crosses into the box, Soder has another diving header and scores. Maybe he should play the whole match on his knees?
41 mins. Darlington screw one wide.
45 mins. Hopper and Soder play a one two and Hopper lets one blast at goal, 3-0.
60 mins. Subs. 9 rated Soder is off for Dawson. Crawford is on for a Griffiths-Smiths.
Constant pressure from Luton does not result in any more goals.
MoM for Soder.

It has just occurred to me that unless we get to about 10th place I am likely to be sacked, nothing like a spot of pressure to raise your game.

League Game: Brentford RIVALS 1-5 Luton (http://i144.photobucket.com/albums/r197/andrewhedley/FebruaryBrentford.jpg)
We manage a win against Bretford by a solitary goal, they are in 5th place this time.
1 min. Haowan so nearly gets a dream start from a free kick, the keeper pushes it wide. Haowan steps up for the corner and the cross is met by the charging Frith. 1-0.
11 mins. Great covering by Frith who blocks a Bentford shot.
19 mins. Soder waists a great chance which goes well wide after great midfield play.
23 mins. You can't give Haowan space on the edge of the box, after receiving the ball from Stig he advances on the keeper and curls the ball into the net. Haowan is delighted.
38 mins. Brentford get a goal after the ball deflects off Frith.
43 mins. Sage gets his hands on a great Brentford shot, good work by the keeper after Brentford beat the off side trap.
The Half time whistle arrives in time to save Luton from the growing pressure of Brentford attacks.
46 mins. Hopper plays the ball back for Haowan who plays a lovely ball forward for Soder to run onto. Soder has a lot to do but he finds space and gets the ball in the back of the net.
53 mins. Chopper rattles the post with a fierce shot. The central midfield are dominating this game.
57 mins. Stig gets clear and plays a long ball for Soder to chase, Soder gets closed down by the keeper and his shot is parried, the ball falls back to Soder who picks up Hooper running into the box and plays a superb through ball, Hopper taps it in.
Substitute time, every one is playing well, so it is just time for fresh legs.
Dawson, Crawford and Sanchez on for Jones, Haowan and Griffiths-Smith.
70 mins. Chopper almost gets another one, his Crawford cross header is blocked on the line.
82 mins. Crawford on the right wing crosses the ball into the crowded box and Dawson heads it in.
5-1 A fantastic result away from home against a rival team. MoM for Haowan.

League Game: Bury 0-2 Luton (http://i144.photobucket.com/albums/r197/andrewhedley/Februarybury.jpg)
Bury are struggling in the league and moral is low there.
26 mins. A nervous start for both sides, like two boxers sizing each other up. McCarthy feeds the ball into Haowan in the centre who then passes to Hopper in space. Hopper plays a through ball for Soder to chase and Soder does not waste the chance. Good to see him score one with his feet.
Half Time. A quite first half with Luton having the best of the game so far.
46 mins. Soder is back to using his head as he meets a Small cross, great goal even better assist.
58 mins. Bury on the attack, the Luton defence are having to throw them selves infront of shot after shot. Gazza gets his bench warming up.
Subs On Crawford for Pieterzoon (tired) and Dawson for Hopper (tired).
71 mins. Bury fans are heading for the exit.
76 mins. Sage pulls of a great save from a free kick.
Full time. A great team display. MoM for Sador.

League Game: Luton 4-0 Notts Co (http://i144.photobucket.com/albums/r197/andrewhedley/FebruaryNottsCo.jpg)
22nd place Notts County come to a Luton side on a high, we dropped points against them in a one all draw at their place.
6 mins. Small passes in field to Stig who dwells on the ball while the other players make runs. Soder breaks and finds him self some space on the edge of the D and shoots. One Nil.
10 mins. frith and Proctor combine to prevent a shot on goal, good team work.
18 mins. The wide men are playing great, small forces the County defenders to earn their pay with several good crosses before McCarthy passes back to Jones in acres of space. Jones crosses with pin point accuracy and Soder heads against the post. Haowan wins the race to the rebound and passes into the empty goal. 2-0.
46 mins. The wide game is winning it for Luton, Small finds Hopper completely unmarked on the edge of the 18 Yard box and he puts in a speculative shot which finds the back of the net.
Great first half, can the Notts Co manager turn it around?
50 mins. Stig and Small combine in a carbon copy of their first goal, the County keeper manages to block it this time. County are on the back foot.
53 mins. Rare goal from a corner, Haowan crosses for Soder to head in.
61 mins. Gazza has a challenge for his subs, with every player on an 8 apart from Page (7) and Soder (9) he has to work on condition and who needs a run out.
Subs on Nakano and Dawson. Off Haowan and Frith.
No change as Luton coast to victory.
Soder gets a MoM.

Hooper turns 17 and gets a professional contract.

Aberdeen want to know how much we want for him,

I suggested that 10 million, 50% of next sale and a buy back of 15 million was acceptable. They don't seem to think that is fair.

Tough luck.

Yeay, YPotM. Should atleast increase my rep a bit, for better or for worse. Seem to be doing well. Lets hope I can keep it up and start a charge towards the top of the scoring list although it seems unlikely.

Very good updates, a suggestion though if its not too much work: when you do the minute updates, put in the current score in the lines where a goal is scored. Sometimes I miss that someone scored :)

Anyway, I'm impressed by your work, makes great reading. Lets hope we can keep the form up and ensure you don't get sacked so we can either go for a playoff this season or challenge for the title next season.

All withdraw their offers after Gazza asks for the moon on a stick.

I have started offering new contracts to all the 17 and 18 year olds to keep them a while longer.

Next update may be Wednesday, I am busy most of Tuesday and Thursday.

Our last 10 games of the season include matches against 10th, 9th, 7th, 6th, 4th and 3rd.

Our destiny is in our own hands in a tight league, 12th to 3rd is separated by 9 points .

If you fail to reach the play-off, it wouldn't be a disaster. Maybe it would be good for the lads with one more season in League 2. But I'm confident that you can do it. My guess is that we'll end at 5th position.

I see that three of us has Wanted-signs - Theo Stig, Haowan and my self Cletus Spuckler. Which clubs are interested in Haowan and me? And about Soder: Fantastic season, I must say. Pure goalmachine...

Excellent sign-up. (have entered several other sign-ups that never got started on this forum, so I'm excited that this one does)

Currently wanted:
Frith - Sunderland & Swansea
Stig - Barnsley, Hull, Norwich, Sheff Utd & Aberdeen
Haowan - Swansea, Wolves, Zaragoza, Recreativo & Salamanca
Spuckler - Gillingham, Rotherham, Sheff Wed, Tranmere, Wrexham, Dundee Utd & Partick Thistle

So far Stig is the only one to receive offers, which is a suprise as he is one of the lesser players in the squad.

The transfer screen will make up part of the players yearly round up.

Cheers for the last comment, I will try and keep it going as long as you are all interested, the pace may slow down, I am currently showing 2 days and 9 hours game time for less than one season, not sure I can maintain my target of a season a week. It will probably slip to a season per fortnight.

Another excellent update and a great month for Chopper, chipping in with some goals and getting a professional contract.

The playoffs are definitely still possible, but that's a hard run in. Fingers crossed.

I just had a Homer Simpson Doh moment.

It occurred to me that the players who are rotated off are just sitting in the first squad gathering dust.

I am now sending them to the reserves to keep them in match practice, I can't believe I didn't do this earlier, especially as the reserves have no GK.

So you should all be getting matches at any one time from now on.

I reckon we will grab a play-off place, with 12 games left 6 points more than the 7th place team is easily claimable. Though saying that, the teams between us and them will also have that aim.

But if we carry on with this form (ignoring the Rotherham game), we should be able to do it.

Since I can't check the screenshots here at work (damn the filter that blocks photobucket!), I'll have to do it when I get home tonight. Anyway, too bad about the Man City replay, though we did well just to get that far.

If you get sacked, I would just create another manager and take over the same team to keep it going.

Excellent updates shame I can't hold down a regular starting place (am I still the most valuable player?)

I've got a good feeling about the play-offs 6 points in 12 games-I think we can do it

March Season 07 Key Matches and Events

A new month an renewed optimism around the Kenilworth Road. We need to catch up 6 points in 12 matches to get 7th place. Even with a loss last month, Luton winning every other game and the other top teams messing up has thrown us a life line.

League Game: Luton 3-2 Morecambe (http://i144.photobucket.com/albums/r197/andrewhedley/MarchMorecambe.jpg)
Morecambe embarrassed us 5-2 in our previous meeting, let us hope for some revenge this time as we can not lose any more games.
Soder rested as he is cream crackered.
16 seconds. Dawson forces a save from a long range shot.
1 min. Penalty. The corner is cleared but Luton take the ball back into the box and Dawson is obstructed. Stig steps up for another penalty and continues his 100% record of scoring from penalties. 1-0
4 mins. Dawson forces another save with a long range effort.
8 mins. Dawson injured, was that deliberate?. Sober is his replacement.
40 mins. Morecambe have not had a chance, Luton attack in wave after wave. Small in particular is having a blinder. Haowan wins a free kick on the edge of the area, his shot is parried by the keeper, but Small is there to get the loose ball and scores.2-0
46 mins. Restart and it is all Luton again. Haowan takes a corner which is cleared by Morecambe as far as Jones who shoots through the crowd to make it three3-0
60 mins. Morecambe still have not threatened the Luton goal. Gazza gets the bench warmed up.
Subs. Crawford on for McCarthy (tired).
60 mins. Morecambe get a goal.3-1
75 mins. Morecambe are getting back into the game, the last ten minutes has been all them.
81 mins. Another Morecambe goal. Gazza has his head in his hands as Luton implode. What ever their manager said at half time is working wonders.3-2
Full Time. Luton manage to hold on for the 3 points.

A good results in the other matches, 6th place draw, 7th place lose, 8th and 9th draw. The gap to 7th place is down to 4 points. Even Gazza is starting to think we have a chance, we just need them to all mess up two times more than us in the last matches.

Aberdeen boss watches Theo Stig, the toss pot he can keep his hands off our players. (http://i144.photobucket.com/albums/r197/andrewhedley/Marchaberdeenscout.jpg)

Dawsons injury (http://i144.photobucket.com/albums/r197/andrewhedley/MarchDawsoninjured.jpg)

League Match: Lincoln 1-3 Luton (http://i144.photobucket.com/albums/r197/andrewhedley/MarchLincoln.jpg)
We beat Lincoln in our last encounter and they are down in 22nd place now so this "should" be points in the bag, apart from they beat 7th placed Aldershot last match.
Sodar is back for the injured Dawson. This is Pages last match before he rotates out for 10 matches again. Delgado gets his chance on the right of defence at Pieterzoons expense.
12 mins. A Haowan free kick arrives in the melee in front of the goal mouth, Small wins the ball and passes to the edge of the box where Haowan is rushing in. The grateful Haowan wallops the ball goal ward and is rewarded with a goal. 0-1
26 mins. Both wings are playing well and Small crosses the ball in front of goal mouth to McCarthy, his shot is too close to the keeper.
35 mins. A great spell of play for Lincoln is ended by Small winning the ball near the Luton corner flag, he makes a telling long distance pass for Soder to run onto. The defence close Soder down but leave a gap for Haowan who passes it first time to McCarthy who has lost his man in the box. Beautiful end to end footy. 0-2
43 mins. Hooper wants his turn and forces a great save.
45 +1mins. The Luton midfield is playing well, Stig in the holding roll is keeping the Lincoln attacking force honest. Soder has a close range shot stopped.
49 mins. Proctor and Firth make a few telling tackles in the box as Lincoln come out of the blocks fast in the second half.
50 mins. Hopper gets his goal. A long range Frith ball is held up by Soder and Chopper gets hold of it with a cracking chip from the edge of the box. 0-3
52 mins. Page madness. A long ball over the top of the Luton defence is charged down by Page, he miss controls the ball 25 yards out and it falls to the grateful Lincoln Striker who has a gift wrapped empty goal. 1-3
66 mins. Gazza warms up his bench.
Subs. On Smith and Griffiths-Smith off Stig (Yellow card) and Haowan (tired)
68 mins. Griffiths-Smiths first touch of the ball is a rocket of the shot that goes narrowly wide.
79 mins. Sage is having a nightmare, he comes for another ball and is beaten to it. luckily the shot goes high and wide.
83 mins. Jones makes a great tackle to end a Lincoln attack putting the ball into touch. Sage makes a brave tackle to take the ball off the Lincoln strikers foot from the corner.
MoM for Haowan.

8th beats 6th, 7th draws, 9th Draws, 5th beats 4th and 3rd draws in a fantastic weekend for Luton.
We are now up to 11th and only 2 points behind 7th with 10 games to play.
We are only 9 points off an auto-promotion, dare we dream?

Luton 1-0 Aldershot (http://i144.photobucket.com/albums/r197/andrewhedley/Marchaldershot.jpg)
Aldershot are over performing in League 2 this season and lie in 7th place, the last play off position and our target. No need to emphasise that we must win this game at all costs. We beat them away last time 3-0, so that is a good omen.
3 mins. It is not a good start for Luton, Aldershot are on the rampage and only good saves from Sage have kept a clean sheet. Gazza is already on his feet yelling at his players to get organized.
13 mins. Haowan and McCarthy working the wing combine and Haowan cuts in and lets rip with his trade mark long distance shot, the keeper blocks the shot and it spills from his hands, he is just quicker than Soder to the loose ball.
18 mins. Aldershot are giving Luton a lot of respect and Soder fires one goal bound from 30 yards out. The keeper has to tip it over his bar. The corner deflects to Hooper who has his point blank shot blocked by the man on the line.
30 mins. Gazza is offering to buy Small some glasses, his crossing has been dreadful so far.
Half Time. Luton are on top, but unless they score Aldershot are going to be a threat on the break. Gazza has words with Soder, Hopper and Stig who have been ineffective down the centre all match.
49 mins. Aldershot must of had some great oranges as they come out the blocks fast and force more heroics from sage.
50 mins. Meanwhile up the other end Soder thinks he is playing rugby and fires another one way over the bar.
56 Soder and then Haowan force saves from the Aldershot keeper. Gazza starts warming up the bench and points at Soder ominously.
Subs On Crawford and Griffiths-Smith. Off Soder and McCarthy.
64 mins. Jones makes it too easy for the keeper with a shot straight into his arms.
72 mins. Brilliant free kick by Griffiths-Smith and an equally brilliant diving save by the keeper.
74 mins. Aldershot push forward and Frith makes a brilliant interception to clear the ball up field where Haowan beats the last man, pursued by 5 Aldershot players he runs half the length of the pitch and keeps his cool to score, the whole team mob him, this means a lot to them.1-0.
89 mins. the official signals 3 minutes of stoppage time. Luton have been playing with a lot of confidence since the first goal, but the Aldershot keeper is on for a MoM award.
92 mins. The Crawford intercepts a Aldershot back pass and runs unopposed towards goal, his shot is too close to the keeper who gets a hand to it. The ball continues goal ward at a leisurely pace and is cleared just before it crosses the line.
As expected the Aldershot keeper gets MoM for his 11 saves. Not mentioned above but Delgardo on the right of defence was one of our better players, ending a lot of Aldershot attacks early.

Good results conspire to get us up to 8th place. We are 1 point off the play offs now, I am seriously thinking that 3rd is a possibility, only 9 points away with 9 games to go. Bradford are comfortably in 3rd and have a much easier run in but we meet them on the last day of the season, that could be a nail biter, so we need to get 6 points on them in 8 games to have a chance of stealing 3rd.

League Game: Luton 3-1 Shrewsbury (http://i144.photobucket.com/albums/r197/andrewhedley/Marchshrewsbury.jpg)
Shrewsbury are now in 7th place only one point above us, so a victory here puts us in the play off position, way ahead of schedule. To add spice, their striker, Drew Talbot, was a Luton player sold to them earlier in the year, he is quite handy with a PA of 101 and Mini Scout rating of 56. We beat them 2-0 at there home ground this season.
6 mins. Soder gets free on the wing and crosses, Crawford gets a good shot on goal which is saved.
11 mins Haowan swings a corner in Soder standing on the near post rises above his marker and nods it in. 1-0.
14 mins. Soder tries a Haowan and fires one from 40 yards out, the keeper gets his mitts on it.
20 mins. Talbot and Proctor compete for a high ball and Proctor loses out. Talbot takes the ball unchallenged into the box. Sage tries to close him down, but Talbot dummies past him and fires into the empty goal. 1-1.
21 mins. Gazza orders his defenders to kick Talbot hard.
27 mins. Sure hands from Sage who saves a great free kick effort.
34 mins. Talbot is carrying the whole Shrewsbury team and forces another save after he gets behind the back of the Luton defence.
Half time. Luton should be cruising, but an ex-player is keeping them honest.
51 mins. Soder takes a kicking and looks tired. Gazza gets his bench warming up.
52 mins. With Soder still off the pitch having treatment, Luton pile on the pressure. A poor Shrewsbury clearance finds Stig in space 30 yards out, he hits a spectacular volley and as the commentator said "oooh what a Goal!". 2-1.
58 mins. Another great corner from Haowan, who floats the ball to the far post across the very crowded box. Small leaps into the air like a salmon and heads the ball goal ward. 3-1.
Subs. Crawford and Griffiths-Smith on and McCarthy and Soder off. Haowan moves up front.
67 mins. Griffiths-Smith finds space and runs into the box, his final touch is poor.
69 mins. Haowan goes down from a hard tackle and is injured, Gazza has to be restrained.Haowan is holding his arm and looks in pain. He will have to come off.
Subs. Sanchez moves up front for the stretchered off Haowan.
85 mins. Another good save from Sage.
90 mins. Shrewsbury are playing dirty. Another yellow for another hard tackle, this time Crawford is the victim. he looks ok.
MoM for Small which is well deserved. Solid work by the winger all match.

Break out the jelly and ice cream, we are in a play off position joint 6th.

Haowan is only out for 6 days, that is a relief.

Smith injured, injections or Physio, that is the question? (http://i144.photobucket.com/albums/r197/andrewhedley/MarchSmithinjured.jpg)

League Game: Gillingham 2-1 Luton (http://i144.photobucket.com/albums/r197/andrewhedley/MarchGillingham.jpg)
Gillinghm gave us a hell of game the last time in a 5-3 thriller, Luton's home advantage won over in the end. Gazza is hoping that they don't fight as hard this time round.
Gazza names a heavily changed side as he rotates in a few players who have played less games.
2 mins. Terrible start, The new look defence stand confused as Martin gets free in the box and scores. Frith will have to take the blame, he was no where near his man. 1-0
4 mins. A Stig free kick hits the wall.
10 mins. Soder forces a good save.
18 A great chance for Soder, but he is off side. Surely Luton can equalise soon.
21 mins. stig hits the wall again from an identical position.
28 mins. A long distance shot clatters of Frith and wrong foots Spuckler, he has to change direction quickly and only just saves it. The attempt came from a poor Jones clearance.
39 mins. Frith obstructs Martin in the box. Penalty. Gazza is furious with the ref and lets rip a string of obscenities. Spuckler dives the correct way but is still beaten. 2-0.
45 mins. Life line. Soder gets the ball in the net after some fantastic midfield build up play. 2-1.
Half time. You can here Gazza shouting from the touch line. He is not a happy bunny.
52 mins. Spuckler is forced into another save from a long distance shot. The Luton marking is terrible.
56 mins. Nice shot Stig, he eventually gets one on target and forces a save.
Subs. Nakano and Crawford are both letting the side down. Gazza brings on Small and Proctor to replace them.
68 Proctor blocks a shot and puts in a good challenge to reward the gaffers faith. Griffiths-Smith makes a terrible back pass and Stig has to intervene.
Subs. Fresh legs on Haowan for Griffiths-Smith.
77 mins. Jones crosses for Small to get his head on to, the keeper rises at the same time and shows safe hands.
Full time. Despite having the better of the match Luton come off second best and we are out of the play offs.

We was robbed!! (http://i144.photobucket.com/albums/r197/andrewhedley/Marchrobbed.jpg)

League Game: Luton 1-0 Accrington (http://i144.photobucket.com/albums/r197/andrewhedley/Marchaccrington.jpg)
Tenth placed Accrington are our next opponents. We only managed a 1-1 draw in our first meeting.
30 mins. Nothing to report, this is a midfield battle and neither side is getting on top.
31 mins. Finally, Haowan takes a shot which is saved.
Surely the second half can only get better?
48 mins. Goal! Haowan right on the edge of the pitch and at least 45 yards out crosses the ball into the box. Marsh for Accrington wins the ball but his headed clearance drops fro Crawford who uses his skill to get past his marker and scores his first ever goal for Luton. 1-0.
58 mins. Crawford takes down Monkhouse who has to receive treatment for a head wound.
Subs on Hopper, Holt and Sanchez. Off Nakano, Stig and McCarthy.
64 mins. Crawford gets a second chance but the shot is blocked.
Full Time and a deserved MoM for Crawford.

It is such a shame we lost the last match as 4th beats 3rd, 2nd draws, 1st draws, 5th beats 6th. We are still in 8th place 2 points off 7th and 7 from 3rd.

[b]League Game: Macclesfield 1-1 Luton (http://i144.photobucket.com/albums/r197/andrewhedley/MarchMacclesfield.jpg)
Another team we drew against last outing.
The boys are getting tired now as the season draws to he close.
1 mins. Jones earns an early yellow card, he will have to be carful now.
2 mins. Macclesfield get the early chance but the shot skims over the bar.
15 mins. Haowan burst into the box, finding his route block he stabs the ball left for Sober who smashes it against the bar.
17 mins. The stig continues his trend of blasting the ball into the wall from free kicks.
27 mins. The Stig is in space and feeds Griffiths-Smith who slides a pass into Sober who has got free in the box. he makes the most of the chance and scores. The boy Soder is climbing the top scorer chart, can he get to the top.
30 mins. Dunfield of Macclesfield tries to swap shirts with Stig and gets penalised for holding.
Half time. Luton look good for there lead.
56 mins. frith becomes the 3rd Luton player to be booked.
Subs. On Holt, Small and Hopper. Off Nakano (poor), Haowan (tired), McCarthy (tired).
63 mins. First Delgado then Frith and finally Jones make interceptions to deny Macclesfield a scoring chance.
70 mins. Stig blast the ball over the post and into the fans behind goal.
77 mins. frith is injured and goes down, Luton have to win the ball back before they can kick it into touch. Gazza is going mental. Holt confronts the player responsible who raises his hands and pushes him, the ref has no other course than to book him. Gazza has a quite word with his captain to nail him (tackling hard).
81 mins. Jones becomes only the second player to get sent off for a second yellow card for a silly tackle. Luton are down to 10 men. Macclesfield take the free kick and Griffiths-Smith miss clears it right to a Macclesfield player, it is in the net. 1-1.
Full time. Luton hold on for a draw. The gaffer is not happy.
MoM for Soder.

Luton look like they want to make life as difficult as the can for them selves. It has all gone belly up since I put Spuckler and Nakano back in defence, weird, they look fine on paper.

Jones Fined and he thinks it is unfair. (http://i144.photobucket.com/albums/r197/andrewhedley/MarchFrithFined.jpg)

Frith is out for a week with a facial injury, but Dawson is back from injury.[b]

April Season 07 Key Matches and Events

Lets hope for April showers of points for Luton (see what I did there?). We sit only 2 points outside the play off places with 15 points on offer. Luton imploded at the end of March and dropped 5 points that would not only have seen them in a play off place, but only 3 points behind 3rd place with that team our last opponent of the year. Only a perfect 5 from 5 is going to keep that distant dream alive and then we need other teams to do us favours, not once but twice.

Let the mind games begin. (http://i144.photobucket.com/albums/r197/andrewhedley/AprilMindGames1.jpg)

League Game: Dag & Red 0-3 Luton (http://i144.photobucket.com/albums/r197/andrewhedley/AprilDagRed.jpg)
Away to 9th place Dag & Red who can also snatch a play of place. Both teams are up for this game as it is effectively a 6 pointer. We had the better of them 3-1 at home, so we should, on paper at least, win this one.
2 mins. Soder is having lumps kicked out of him, 2 fouls in 2 minutes. Gazza has asked Soder to mark the opposition DL this match in an experiment.
23 mins. Luton are the dominant team but chances are few and far between.
24 mins. Simmons booked for diving in the box, nice ne ref.
34 mins. Good build up play ends with Soder screwing a shot wide.
36 mins. Spuckler has to pull off a great save to take the ball away from the feet of McMurrey.
37 mins. Simmons and Proctor go for the same long ball and Proctor loses his footing. Simmons has a free run at goal. Spuckler closes him down and makes him self big, it is enough to deflect the first shot. Simmons picks up the ball again and Spuckler is out of place, a great tackle by Delgado nicks the ball from his feet and Sanchez clears.
53 mins. 7 shots but only 1 on target sums up the Luton performance.
58 mins. Rings out the changes. Soder and Haowan are off and Gleballs makes his return from loan alongside Dawson back from injury.
68 mins. A Dag & Red defensive error, the GK rolls the ball our to his CB who doesn't see Dawson bearing down on him. Dawson nicks the ball and moves towards goal. with the Keeper rushing him Dawson keeps his cool and drives it low into the far corner. 0-1.
70 mins. Gleballs shows his inexperience with a long pace back to Nakano on the wing, Nakano has to battle to win the ball and clear it into touch. He wags his finger at Gleballs who shrugs.
72 mins. Dag & Red defenders have to throw their bodies in the way of 2 thunderous strikes.
75 mins. GOAL for Gleballs. Proctor plays it wide for McCarthy who spots that Gleballs has got between the Centre Backs, Gleballs receives the ball and with only the Goalie to beat scores. 0-2.
79 mins. Another goal for Gleballs. A Sanchez pass is intercepted only for Gleballs to steal the ball on the half way line, he then runs 30 yards before blasting it into the roof of the net. 0-3.
MoM for Gleballs, Soder has some competition. (such a shame that Gleballs is the only player in the sign up who is not being followed).

We go 6th on goal difference and close the gap to 2nd and 3rd to 7 points with 4 games to go.

League Match: Lincoln 2-0 Grimsby (http://i144.photobucket.com/albums/r197/andrewhedley/AprilGrimsby.jpg)
Grimsby are down in 22nd place, morale is terrible and we beat them at their home ground 4-1. Sounds like a recipe for a thumping.
Grimsby turn up playing 3-5-2, they are obviously hoping to keep our midfield pinned down.
5 mins. Speckler way outside the box spots a charging run by McCarthy down the left wing and plays him a beautiful pass. McCarthy runs to the corner before whipping a cross to the far side of the box where Crawford runs onto it and blasts it over the keeper. 1-0
26 mins. Crawford and McCarthy are playing well and threatening from both sides, the Grimsby Back 3 is leaving loads of space out wide for them to exploit.
40 mins. The crosses are flying in, but Soder is losing the heading contest.
Half time. Soder off and Gleballs who is excellent in the air is on.
52 mins. Gleballs is winning the heading game, but not beating the keeper.
60 mins. "Am I a genius or what?" asks Gazza as Gleballs rises to meet a Haowan corner and makes it two for Luton.2-0
62 mins. Subs on Dawson and Holt for Griffiths-Smith and Nakano.
79 mins. Crawford goes on a solo run beating 3 Grimsby players, his shot is parried and cleared just before it crosses the line.
A deserved MoM for Crawford.

1st, 2nd and 3rd all draw and 4th place loses!

Luton are up to 5th, 4 points off 2nd and 3rd place but only 1 point above 8th. The play off places are very tight.

Luton 1-0 Chesterfield (http://i144.photobucket.com/albums/r197/andrewhedley/Aprilchesterfield.jpg)
Half time. Chesterfield have yet to threaten, meanwhile Luton have had 12 shots at goal but only a quarter of them on target. Gazza sends them out more attacking and gets Dawson and Gleballs to swap positions at will.
53 mins. A Sanchez through ball picks out Dawson in the box and he scores. 1-0.
56 mins. Subs on Hopper and Sober for Gleballs and Haowan. Fresh legs in attack.
Full time. Luton only have 1 goal to show for 22 shots at goal and 8 on target. Dawson is MoM but it should really go to the Chesterfield Central defender Hutchings who never put a foot wrong.

1st 2nd and 4th win but 3rd loses. Bradford our last game of the season are top, so unless they lose in the next match we must rely on results else where to get 3rd.

The League is so close that it is still possible for us to finish 1st to 10th.

League Game: Wyombe 0-1 Luton (http://i144.photobucket.com/albums/r197/andrewhedley/Aprilwycombe.jpg)
This is the battle of 4th verse 5th, so a must win game to keep our hopes of an Auto promotion alive.
Our last outing was a goalless snore draw.
Soder is recalled.
11 mins. A cagey affair with both sides knocking the ball around midfield, Luton have been the most aggressive so far.
20 mins. Wycombe are now on the attack, a Stig, Spuckler mix up almost bundles the ball over the line for an own goal.
25 Nakano is having a torrid time on the back left, miss-reading the flight of the ball on 3 occasions.
Half time and neither side can make the break thought with only 3 shots each.
58 mins. Gazza brings on Gleballs, Griffiths-Smith and Hopper for Soder, Dawson and Nakano. Snachez moves to left back.
73 mins. Bournemouth and Rochdale are also drawing, Luton must score or they will not make 3rd place. Gazza shouts at them to get forward.
80 mins. Crawford puts a cross in to the box and under pressure from the defence Gleballs puts it away. 0-1
Brentford are ahead, but Rochdale are still drawing.
Game over. Luton have done their part all they can do now is wait for the other results to trickle in.
MoM for Crawford. Gazza tells the team they did what was needed.

Bradford win, Rochdale and Bournemouth draw.
We finish April in 4th spot, needing to beat top of the table Bradford at home while either Rochdale lose against 10th place Aldershot or Bornemouth lose against 17th place Bury.
What ever happens we are guaranteed at least 5th place and a play off.

How long do I keep you all waiting for the last match of the League?

Cue evil laughter, Mwhahahahahahahaha!

I will try and get the season finished for tomorrow.

1) Start thinking of a PPM for your player as I will add them at the end of the season.

2) How do you feel about every one voting for their top 3 players of the season and the winner gets an extra PPM? If you like the idea, vote your your first choice, second choice and third choice. You get 1 point for each 3rd vote, 2 for each second and 3 for each 1st place vote.
You CANNOT vote for your self.
I will total the points after 24 hours.

3) Also choose one TURKEY of the season, award that to the player who has been the weakest link (I know where my vote is going).

Wait until the season ends before you vote.

Any other ideas to get you all involved?

Yes! Luton going to the playoffs! :D

And also good to see Nakano in the starting lineup.:)

May I request the PPM 'Marks opponent tightly':)

I'm kinda already involved, with the excel table :D

Can't think of any other ideas atm, will post if I think of anything interesting.

First of all: Great work. It's really some effort you're putting in to the monthly reports.

I was thinking that, instead of a screenshot of the match-rating, how about showing the Home/Away-Stats for Luton? That'll tell how everyone has played in the match, eg. shots on goal, assists, key-tackles, key-saves and such.

Now, go crush them Bradford...

I'll have the PPM "Tries Long Shots" ;D

And I'm not too keen on the voting idea (cos if the winner was already good enough to be voted that many times, then getting another PPM would just make him even better and harder to catch up with) , but if I had to:

1. Soder (naturally)
2. Gleballs
3. Craig Hopper (eh, highest average rating)

KUTGW!

Another excellent update, I'm enjoying this sign up a lot.

As for my player, I've just noticed that he's got the highest average rating in the team so far with a respectable 7.38. He's also wanted, can you tell me who's after him?

I'd like him to have the PPM 'Shoots with Power' please for next season.

As for the voting I think it's a good idea that will get people involved.

My first choice is Soder for his excellent return of 24 goals this season.
My second choice is long shot specialist Haowan.
My third choice is the rock at the back Theo Stig.

And my turkey award choice would have to be Ricky Nakano for his average rating of 6.50!

Haowan, go for Shoots with Power instead. Tries Long Shots isn't good on a AMC unless he is truly great at technique, long shots and decisions. :)

I'll vote as soon as the season is over. If people think a PPM is too much, a "get rid of injury free" card or "change one hidden attribute up/down by x points" (within limits) would also work. Those would be more fun as well.

Great that I'm getting some rotation, I think the end of the season is always going to really tough on me as I'm slowly worn down during the year.

Can I have PPM "Moves into Channels" as well. Given that I'm up there alone, if I can get into channels as often as possible the better chance of holding the ball up or going through with it.

Lets kick ass in playoffs and make it to the next division so we can battle it out there for a season or 2 while players develop and we can make a run for promotion again.

Good work, love the updates.

Okay, I'll follow ZJ's advice and have "Shoots With Power" instead.

Thanks

I'm just being egoistic, don't want you taking long shots when you can pass me instead ;). Seriously though, the only difference now will be that when you shot, you will hit it hard and in my experience players with that PPM tend to score a lot while players with Tries Long shots takes shots it when they shouldn't. Given that you are already making good passing/shooting decisions (7 goals/17 assist is pretty awesome) don't want you to change that.

And also good to see Nakano in the starting lineup.:)

Nakano is my award for TURKEY of the season, I have had to put him on the left wing as I do not trust him in front of goal any more, He has several stats in the mental area that combine to make him oblivious to the world around him. He miss about 50% of the long balls over his head, is a liability at the end of a game and gives away countless fouls on the edge of the box. I am really at a loss how to retrain him, I think he needs a Mentor, so I am currently hunting for an excellent old defender/full back to take into the squad.
Otherwise we can only hope time will be kind to him, in the wizard of OZ he would be the scare crow.
I am wondering if a loan move might be another idea.

The excel table is great, I am going to try and track you all on excel by CA verses time and mini scout rating verses time if it doesn't detract from the game playing.

Probably a good idea to use the home/away ratings, we don't really care about the other side. I will do that for the Next match so you can all see what you think.

Very good idea, I will offer the winner a choice of the three. There is still time to vote once the season has finished.

Finally, thanks for all the positive feed back and praise, it is good to know that the work involved is appreciated, it goes a long way to keeping me motivated to boot it up each day. I am really enjoying this game, it is like no other game I have played before, normal I go for ultra realism and work my way up from lower leagues to a top rated club.

if any of you have an idea for a new player to join the sign up please give them a nudge in this direction, we will be losing one of our young starlets at the end of this season and I would like to offer the chance to someone to either take over the roll or add in a new player. Some of you guys run, or are in other sign ups and probably know some one who will be active.

Its all changed on here hasnt it. Last looked last night at around 10pm, and now I find myself reading 2months worth of updates. Brilliant.

Very pleased about the playoff position. Cant believe we're on the last match of the season already. Very exciting.

As for the PPM ideas that have been thrown around, I think that its a good idea. Especially the award thing for players player of the season. I think its safe to say soder is gonna be getting that...maybe....

Kutgw. Really good sign-up.

I'll have the PPM shoots with power as well please.

As for voting I'll wait until the end of the season as well.

For a player to recommend is Deltoro or Bamatoon involved in this as they are both pretty regular poster in my sign up. Other than that I think most of the people in mine are in here.

Keep up the great work though it must be hard to post that much info at such regular intervals.

Interesting. I really don't want to leave Luton, but with my season average rating it may be difficult to hold onto me (there's nothing like blowing your own trumpet :p).

If the chairman accepts bids for me you should kill him off in the editor and replace him with someone as stupid as Gazza.

His interference is already set at 2, so unless it is a fantastic bid we should be safe.

Good news, now all I've got to worry about is my player getting too big for his boots and requesting a transfer. If he does you have my permission to fine him a months wages for being a big headed little git ;)

On a seperate note, I'm amazed he didn't get sent off at all this season considering some of his attributes, both visible and hidden! Did he get any cards at all?
