players you will never sell.

More of a trivial thing. Do you have any players at the club who no matter what you will not sell.

I currently am refusing to sell Barry Ferguson from Rangers despite him now not being good enough. Instead i loaned him to Hull my feeder side.

I have a tonne of players who, although I'd never say never, I would be very reluctant to sell.

There's the usual suspects such as Cristiano Ronaldo, Carlos Tevez, Wayne Rooney and Rio Ferdinand. But I would also never sell Javier Saviola, even though he's never really established himself in the first team. I can't say too much because of the whole player-naming thing, but the guy has done things since I signed him (for a mere £7m) that convince me he should be a United player until he decides to leave.

Yea. The quality thing wasnt what i was looking at in reply to the C. Ronaldo thing. For Example myself with Ferguson at Rangers, Sweet Zombie Jesus with the players at Liverpool.

More of a cult hero thing and that the reason for refusing to sell.

I think that if you look more closely at my post, you'll see that I understood what you're getting at.

If I'm at a team where there's a player or players who have played there all their career I won't sell, e.g Giggs, Scholes, Neville at United. And on my current save I refuse to demote a 33 year old Raul from captaincy and he still starts most games despite me having much better options.

No, I'd sell anyone, that's what being a manager is all about, making tough decisions. My favourite player of all time was an Egyptian striker I picked up on a free in league 1. He was an incredible player, far too good for that level and scored the goals that won me league 1, the championship, got me into Europe and won me the premiership, all at the same club. In the end though he started getting old and I had better options available, so I let him go to Sunderland for not a massive amount (possibly in a player/manager role). I do kinda regret it now though many years later, that may have been about the time my mini slide began.

When i am managing Newcastle United in FM08 (i support them IRL) players i wouldnt sell would be :

Given

Harper

Beye

Taylor

Milner

Nzogbia

Martins

Owen

and youngsters :

Krul

Lualua

Carroll

I'm playin as NUFC right now and Mike Ashley sold Martins to Milan for £25m, so i signed Tevez for £22m 12 games 11 goals so far i think i did alright

the rest of those players i still have :)

But back on topic there really isn't anyone i won't sell if the money is good cos everyone is replacable even if it takes a couple of years to replace them

Same. I hold on to him. He normally tries to become a scout. I always make him a coach, then my assistant.

I'm Villa and I refuse to sell BARRY! Bwahaha!

Also Jiménez, Colocinni and Farfán have some long Villa careers ahead of them :D

With my Sevilla side there's quite a few that'll be with me as long as I rule.

Daniel Alvez (You kiddin? He's the best player in the game!), Maxwell, Riquelme, Kanouté, Marcelo and Jesus Navas. Also I have Sakho in my youth side, and I'm pretty sure he'll stick around for quite some time. Whether he likes it or not...

With Liverpool - The usual suspects of Gerrard, Torres, Xabi Alonso and Agger.

With Valencia - Villa and Silva.

And with Marseilles - Nasri (though I'm buggered for '09!), Kone and Zenden (He seems to get on with everyone due to him being multi-lingual)

In my game he says he wants to become an assistant manager. That will be the role he shall be offered. Tony McAndrews is doing a good job but unfortunetly he just doesnt cut it over the one player that ive always tried to base my personal game on. I plan to stay at the club until ive spent at least 2 years with him as assistant manager n hope he gets managers job after me.

No.

Whether he is your star player, or just a good youngster, every player has his price. And in the long term, selling your star, or that cracking youngster for a huge fee, can be benificial/vital to the club improving.

A good utility player, especially if they can play anywhere across the backline. I've had too many times where both specialist right or left backs have been injured.

It also means I can have say specialist first choice full backs, backed up by some promising youngsters I can ease into the team. The utility player will always be there if the youngsters aren't ready yet or need a rest.

Totally the opposite of Nomis07 there are too many to name in my squads that I wouold never sell, but just to throw out a few of the more obvious names - Diego, Paolo Sammarco and Juan Roman Riquelme at Werder Bremen and Sebastian Giovinco and Gianpaolo Pazzini at Fiorentina.
