First time since the early versions I am tempted to take sickie so can spend a few 10 hour sessions once the game is released. I am not sure what excuse to use might say I have the flu

Depends what day it actually comes out - if it is near the weekend I can probably wait until then however if it is mid week I might have to have a few days off school because of a nasty chest infection.

I think that might be going around in mid november ;)

I will tell him that his daughter has promised to pleasure me all day and, as a red-blooded male, I'm sure he understands why I have to skip work.

That should work, shouldn't it?

If it fails, I suppose I could say it's the Feast of Maximum Occupancy.

I'm more then due some time off and taking a little over a week starting on the 14th November shouldn't be a problem.

Just tell your boss the truth! You might get lucky and find out he's a secret FM-er himself

Let me check my diary... ah yes here we go, severe flu-like symptoms and diarrhea, commencing 13th november (in anticipation of the stunt those pesky retailers usually pull)

If SI had any sense, they'd release it at the weekend in the current financial climate.
For the good of the economy and all that....

There'll be a mass "Man-Flu/Cold/Measles/Chest infection" epidemic come November.... :D

The 14th is on a Friday actually. Quite handy for all you lot who want to pretend to your boss that you've become infected with some mysterious illness.;)

Being a university student usually I would just not show up to classes. However my exams this year happen to fall early November and should finish just before the game is released. How convenient. Also my 4 month holiday afterwards should help.

Isn't not showing up for classes pretty much the norm for you guys anyway? I certainly never made anything earlier than 10am when I was a student!

That would be one of the finer points of going to university, as most of us would agree! That and all the girls on campus!

I've been quite fortunate and somehow managed to go all summer taking only two days annual leave, so I have 43 days left (carried 15 over from last year) I think I might go on Christmas holiday from the 14th November till after Christmas and New Year so I can play FM 09 at my own leisurly pace for a month and half!!!

<------------ doing up to a 7 year degree, got lots and lots of time :P

I'm surprised by how many people are willing to miss work for it though, don't most people only work at most a 10 hour shift? So you could still go home and play if you wanted to...

Yes, but we want to be playing it in the time we have to spend at work!

It's not my boss I'm worried about, it's the excuse I have to give to my girlfriend that concerns me.

"So, tell me, why can't you see me this weekend?"

"I lost my face, I have to find it, bye!"

for soem people they may not need an excuse. with the credit crunch. i may not have any work after 6 weeks time. so even if i buy a copt of fm09 i may not beable to play it with no income to pay bills and mortgage :(

Sad but true, Wayne'o. On the other hand, if we've lost our jobs, we'll have nothing but time on our hands! :(

Personally, I'm just oh-so-glad I'm in a job where playing computer games at work is, well, part of the job. :D

On the dole on JSA at the moment, forced to leave college on heath issues. As a result ill just look for a job till after christmas giving me plenty of FM time. Before you ask im very little qualified at the moment and only 18 and so far the only temporary jobs that have came up in the local area is weatherspoons and they have 21 policy.

How about not taking time off but setting up your home PC so that you can Remote Desktop to it?

Not sure if it works as i havent tried it.

That way you can go to work and still play the game all day :)
