LX THE GREAT
Seeing as FM09 won't be on the 360 i am looking to get a new laptop, but as I'm not very tech minded when it comes to pc's could i ask for someones help. Looking to spend £800 at most but will go over if need be. I won't be running it in 3d mode if that helps, but would like a laptop that could run FM09 and the follow-ons for quite a few years at least, and be able to run quite a few leagues at once. Cheers, Alex
Neji
Dual core 2GHz + and 2GB+ of RAM If the 3D maybe something you use in the future, make sure it has a dedicated GPU. Oh, and don't spend anywhere near 800 quid if your most intense use of it is going to be FM.

Would you recommend any, i'll do a search anyway but not sure whats up to date enough.
Neji
I don't really keep up todate with laptops ie specific models so I couldn't advice you on a specific one but you should get something around the specs I posted for 400. With a dedicated GPU, it will be more like 500-600 probably.

Neji
Welcome Dam! Nice first post TBH, I'd go for the Acer over the HP. HP's tend to be overpriced, especially from Currys, PC World etc. I'd also advice looking all over the internet for the best price, dont restrict yourself to retail stores. The one Dam posted seems to be good value.

cometboy
looks good but couldn't find any reviews for it, is it new. im not sure i only noticed it about a month ago, admittedly i dont go over to the laptop side much. i saw some reviews which where good the only thing ppl didnt like about it was vista, but thats not the laptops fault i was drawn to it for 3 reasons 1 is the 3gb of ram 2 is the 250gb hard drive which is quite big for a laptop i think 3 dedicated graphics amd dual core from what i hear is not as good as intel pentium 2 but for what i want it for ill hardly notice the slight difference
akakhtar
I've just bought this one. deliver in a few days and you can choose your own memory. i chose 3gb ram memory and 360gb hard drive, 15.4" widescreen for £460. The price given on this link is for a 2gb memory and 240 gb hard drive. if you go into it it allows you to choose your own specs. Scab
You'll be able to, though I can't say how fast it will go. Everyone seems to have a differing opinion on what's an acceptable speed, anyway. The 3GB RAM should be enough, so how fast that many leagues will go will mainly be down to the CPU. You can compare your T8100 to other CPUs on this chart: http://www.cpubenchmark.net/cpu_lookup.php?cpu=Intel+Core2+Duo+T8100+%40+2.10GHz This is obviously a bit of guesswork seeing how it's still in development, but my impression of the 3D engine isn't that it's particularly hard on the GPU. That graphics chip of yours will in all likelihood be fine.

If your planning to use the 3D match engine, I am sure you would want to invest in a system with a dedicated GPU, preferably with it's own memory. Also it may be beneficial to try and get a system with at least a resolution of 1440x900 so FM can display more information on the screen without showing scroll bars. Major Raver
Novatech is what you want as they build the laptop and desktop to your specs, Centrino 2 processor, powerfull graphics cards, 4mb and you can have it installed with XP instead of Vista which is a winner. The MX50 Pro is a great machine, best 15" system about. Best of all though and why I use them, is the aftercare service is amazing for repairs and help and puts the rest to shame! http://www.novatech.co.uk/novatech/
