FM 07 Handheld.

Recommended Posts

well i picked up FM07 Handheld to see what its like...was getting a few other games in a 4 for £20 so picked it up. Got sacked after just 16 games as Pompey manager only managed to win 2 games in that time...was hovering just above relegation...

Its hard the lack of tactics options made deciding how I was set up really hard. Guess we have been spoilt by the depth that the FM games now offer... I seemed to barely register shots on targets and drew tons of games nil-nil..

I love the rapid nature of the game however along with the way it harks back to the Championship Manager games of old and its definitly endearing me into picking up FM09 Handheld as my Football Manager of choice.

Any tips for tactics? and what mid tables could people recommend starting off and having a good chance of success...

i would say you should start right at the bottom with a conference team like oxford or my personal favorite stevenage as it is easier to learn the game from the bottom upwards

as for tactics this is regarded as one of the best, if not the best tactic for all FMH games

The formation is 3-5-2

Emphasis - Normal

Passing - Short

Tackling - Normal

Pressing - Yes

Offside trap - No

Counter Attack - No

Men Behind the Ball - No

I also don't play with a playmaker.

Player instructions

Passing - All set to team

Tackling all set to team except 3 centre midfielders who are set to HARD.

Pressing all set to yes except the back 3 defenders and the goalkeeper.

Pass to - Everyone set to R/L/C

Set pieces - haven't changed

Free role - Both wide player (ML and MR) set to yes and everyone else No.

Forward runs all no except wide men and the middle man of the 3 central midfielders and one of the strikers

Run with ball - All no except wide men, middle of the 3 central midfielders and one of the strikers

Hold up ball - All set to NO

Long Shots - All set to No except all 3 central midfielders and the striker who is set to run with ball.

Through Balls - All set to NO

Cross Ball - All set to NO

Marking - Similar to NTFC, all set to man marking except goalkeeper, the middle of the 3 defenders and the middle of the 3 midfielders.

This tactic relies heavily on the middle man of the 3 midfielders, in my game the guy I have there has scored over 40 goals in every season and often scores four or five in single games. The key stats to look for in this role are shooting, dribbling, passing, tackling and movement and he will score loads of goals.

hope this helps :)

the jambo dave tactic will get you success without fail

Ah right, actually made a few modifications to it...made one of the strikers hold up the ball, like a target man without the ability to click to feed them on the head...but they seem to get plenty of assists...

Yeah I always found it ruined the challenge after a while,

I still used it though. :D

Yeah I have found that...started as Oxford (owing to being a pompey fan and jim smiths association with both clubs) and won first 17 games...

I think I will tinker around to make the tactic my own...
