PLC takeover is generally the rich businessmen coming in, the promotion from within means that someone from the board has taken over the role of Chairman and consortium means a group of people, usually businessmen have taken over. More often than not they will be local businessmen.

Would be interesting to know the exact impacts on your club of each.

Yeah I know, still I think money-wise PLC takeovers bring in the most money and promotion from within takeovers keeping the balance about the same.

The chariman's hidden abilities are more important than money I have experienced.
If you've got a crappy chairman the money won't help you that much if he sacks you in the middle of the season...

I've had a supporter's group take over at Standard Liege in Belgium. It didn't make much difference - we had no more money than before, and only the chairman status changed to 'loves the club'.

Here's a screenshot of the Fans Trust taking over the club. It's the third one down. The club was in severe financial difficulties when it happened, so I believe that must be the reasoning behind the takeover.

Money and reputation wise:-

Consortium > PLC > Promotion from Within

Consortium is like Chelsea or Man City. Your rep gets a huge boost to go with your new found financial clout.

PLC is when people get shares in the team.
