i dont usually play friendlies but in 09 defo going to cause of 3D what will you do ?

I understand why they matter, they let me try out tactics and see what will work with my team, but I usually just try to tweak from the first game of the season.

I always play friendlies and even create some mid season when I have a lull between Intl matches. This gives some of my fringe players an opportunity to shine.

me too it gets the players fit and in form plus if i'm a small club i can get money biiiiiiigggggg money from friendlies

I always play them, pretty fundamental for fitness and trying new players etc.. People who dont are probably the 1s who cry the game is to hard/needs to be dumbed down etc

not necessary...... people might consider them irreverently small changes in fitness and form or just simply avoiding them to create more time actually playing in competition

I always play friendlies, but I voted "No" because the 3D ME isn't going to make me think "Oh! Friendlies are in 3D! Whoopee!"

Can we have the option to filter out teams who are willing/available to play you in a friendly? So annoying going through the hastle of selecting the date, venue, team ect, only for them to reject the proposal and you have to go through the whole thing again...

I always take my friendlies very seriously with a new club or when I've bought a large number of new players but once I'm a few seasons in and my team is settled I let the assistant take them.

I've always played friendlies before, and I will on FM09. To be honest, I find them to be damn useful.

I always play them, either in extended highlights or full match, to see how my formation is working and where to tweak if needed, tis' quite important methinks.

I always take friendly's as they are a great way to learn which part of your team are slacking and always how to improve certain aspects of the tactics.

I play friendlies anyway. I use them for experiments to see who my best are.

If you don't play friendlies your players will not get match fit. If they don't get match fit their condition will drop faster in your opening matches (there might be effects of match fitness on performance directly but that's more speculation based on how I would expect it to work). When condition drops your players attributes as you see them in their profile take a 'hit'. So your Finishing 20 striker won't have 20 going into the calculation that decides if he scores or not.

If you line up some easy friendlies and use the right team talks you can go into the new season with strong morale. Don't agree that this is how it should work but since it does that's what I do.

So knowing those two things why would you not play them? Unless of course you like the challenge Incidentally I'd like to see the AI teams be more proactive with friendlies with respect to improving match fitness.

I tried letting my assistant take care of them but he left a few players low on match fitness and annoyed a few with his team talks. Since then I play them myself.

I play a couple of easy friendlies to get the players going. Then two against tough opposition, usually Premiership reserve teams so we are used to playing good teams, then a couple of easy, but harder than the first friendlies, so morale is high at the start of the season.

I arrange about 6 friendlies but letmy ass man play them. I don't really see why the new 3D match engine would effect whether I wanted ot play them or not

-i am trying out new tactics to see what works and where i need tweaking

-i feel like it. this is ramdomly usually against opposition of similar or higher stature as my team where i can expect a decent match.

If i've bought a few players or done a major rebuild to the team then i always play friendlies as it allows me to see how the new guys play together.

I always take control of frendlies anyway, they are much more useful to me than it seems to some people, always good for trying out young or new players and different tactics

My point exactly, the frendlies are there as a pre season warm up, not just for the players but for the manager too, for me, it is good to use them as a way to get your game head back on after the wheelings and dealings of the transfer market

Never have played them, never will. The gimmick of 3D will wear off after a while, just like it did with 2D.

Friendlies are a good way to try out youngsters and see how they do. Why not play them, they only take 5 minutes...

Yeah I always play em as well. I really can't understand why anyone would want to bypass friendlies and let the ass man do it.

Friendlies are vital, 3d or no 3d, how else can you try out new tactics or give new players a chance?

I'm guessing he's talking about when he first gets the game. With 08 he skipped past friendlies as he wanted to play a competitive match but with the 3D he won't have the patience and will jump straight in to see what it looks like.

i play the friendly's it helps me see whos startig well and to look at new signings

Not only i will play Freindlies myself but may be i will also have a game for reserves and u18 every now and then to check how my players are progressing

Always play them, like to change whole team in 2nd half...get 22 ploayers fit and ready...

i always play 1 or 2 each year, to test how my new players would fit. scheduled one against man utd this year, beat them 3-2 and settled on that formation and tactics combo. worked for sevilla so far...

i'll probly do the same on 09, 3d or whatever. i always do that in my first match of every version.
