As Whitby manager, I had the young Polish goalkeeper Piotr Czaplinski on my shortlist. He was released by his club but, to my great disappointment, he didn't want to move to Whitby. Instead he retired and became a Chairman. Strange, I thought, considering he's only 19. However, I look more closely at his profile box and it would appear that he must have entered some sort of timewarp and is now aged 37... no wonder he's not bothered about playing anymore! I signed him in a previous game for Hartlepool (hence why he was on my shortlist) and he remained first choice from League One to the upper reaches of the Premiership. Not sure why he wasn't signed... I was genuinely gutted when that message came through! Nevertheless I wish him good luck with the time travelling antics.
