Nicknames…

I have been playing FM and CM for some time now, but something struck me just now. You may or may not find this a useful feature, but I want to give myself a nickname in the game.

Is that possible?

If yes: How?

If not: Are there more lads out there who would like to have this feature? I know I would. I mean I'm not the kinda person who's disappointed with the name given by his or her parents or anything, but I don't feel the need to be referred to with my full name all the time.

Infact im 95% sure

1. Go to your profile

2. In the bottom left hand corner click miscellaneous

3. From the menu that appears select set nickname

4. Type in your chosen nickname and confirm

should be in the bottom left tab, highlight misc and click on set nickname.

I love this feature. I like how loads of people post screenies covering up their names with big white boxes, when in reality they could just give themselves a nickname, like I do.

I feel so thick right now. It is kinda obvious that you can apply a nickname to yourself via the same way you do it for players…

I use my own name but if you see my screenies around the forum you will see some very random manager nicknames

I always use this as well, it allows me to have a single name 'dafuge' rather than a split name like 'da fuge'. Saying that, Fuge Park was quite a cool name for a stadium at AFC Wimbledon.

I remember on FM07 setting Alan Curbishley to his nickname of 'Curbs'.

For some reason, I found it hilarious when I saw the following headline; "'We will beat Man Utd!', says Curbs".

Presumably Paul Ashworth is also in the game. So you can't really 'be him'.

well OK, i just name myself Paul Ashworth Anyway, there is no other Ashworth in my current game (checked with Genie Scout)

Whenever I start a new FM game, I always give Bojan the name Bojan Krikc and Guiza the nickname Daniel Guiza. Annoys me otherwise.

I use it for my scouts as I always forget what scouts are in certain areas of the world

So then it changes to:

Germany Scout, England Scout...bla bla

Then I know what one to use for a certain player and stuff

I tended to find nicknames useless...

this is pretty funny...i just changed my name to "sex" because i thought it would produce some funny quotes in the media and lo and behold about a month later "israel want sex"

Had Guilherme the Brazilian striker, and Guilherme the Brazilian left-back, so the latter had his name lengthened.

The nickname feature is one of the best in the game, and I use it extremely often

I give my coaches and scouts their JCA and JPA in their name, so I get Bob Hope 15/18 and Da Fuge 20/20 etc.

That tells me how reliable they are.

I am going to give managers nicknames now- Hairdrier, meet Professor. Professor, meet The Fat Spaniard.

I couldn't do it with players though- it would annoy me in the ME.

I started using nicknames, and only really use them, when i play as teams in the Ukraine/Russia.

It becomes an eyesore, IMO, to look at your squad due to all the k's,y's,z's,and l's. So i give my players nicknames to make them easier to see.

For example my back line at Shakatar consists of: Cooker,Mario,Mitri and Rat
