He or She

I was looking through my downloaded player picture that i got of sortitoutsi and i noticed a player that look like a girl. I was determined to find if it was a man or a woman so here they are; must be a girl

But then i saw this;

Is it a man with a girls name and features? or have SI just not really think** this situation through?

She probably... Leeds have a female physio I don't see why Swansea wouldn't have a female working for them

obvisly SI didnt really thought this situation through. :-)

I'm sure they've mentioned it before, and would need a lot of code rewriting to correctly address females in the game...

There is a female box you can tick (no pun intended) on the editor. I am currently Vanløse who have a female physio and when I request Physio Report the qualifiers are switched to "her" and "she".

How strange, upon checking

Tine Coster Joost the Physio is referred to as a she in any news articles regarding physiotherapy; however on the contract screen such as above for Aisla Jones it clearly says he... they haven't coded it for every situation in the game clearly.

I think they didn't code it because of all the translations, I wasn't aware that they coded it at all, I thought that everyone was reffered to has a him.

That's what i thought as well. Another example is Lorraine Rogers the Tranmere Chairwoman.

And of course Karen Brady is in the game.

so yeah it appears SI has ****ed up here, a simple tick of the female box in the editor would fix it.

No they haven't messed up at all. The amount of work required for all the translations is deemed unimportant for the very few females in the game. Does it really matter that they are reffered to wrong? Its cosmetic, it has no impact on the game whatsoever.

Personally, I'd prefer they fix bugs before making the game do something so unnecessary.

For me all this does is cause me a little giggle every so often, I have a female physio on my staff and it is kinda funny for me when contracts come around and "he" wants a new contract

At the end of the day though, like Neji said, the bugs that make the game annoying rather than just mildly amusing need to be sorted before they spend time and effort fixing something so trivial

I second that Neji. Interestingly though, when you apply a filter on the editor some players appear to be female too. (If I recall correctly, this was the case on FM07)

Of course they have. It's not a game breaker or even a bug but they have messed up there. They have a code to specify wether or not a member of staff is a female, and they have missed this particular case out when creating or editing a database.

I suppose with 99.9% of the database being male, being lazy and recoding just for the 0.1% of females can be a bit irritating to some.

Liverpools physio is also a woman by the way. I'd agree with the translation thingy - not worth so much work for a minute % of staff

yeah to be fair there is no restriction for staff to be any gender so regen staff etc could also be female as long as the ratio is kept steady.

I just think you should be happy Neji that there aren't many (if at all) female users online here, otherwise you would have been in so much trouble right now

Reading physio Rebecca Brown and Spurs physio Dr Charlotte Cowie are also female.

SI haven't messed up, they've said that translating all the languages would be too hard, paticuarly when you consider the femine forms of words would have to be added, etc.

The tick box in the editor doesn't do anything either.

On another note, I once sacked a female physio because I was so frustrated at the way she was constantly called "he". She was terrible too.

I just discovered that. I created a team and made my missus chair and sisters-in-law directors. The tick for female box is greyed out.

There are a few female FM managers out there as well. I really do wish SI would give us a ticky box to allow users to be female. I don't like seeing reports referring to my successes where they all say "his team", "his tactics" and so on.

Mind you, if you look closely in the editor, you'll even find a player (Derek Moore from Ireland) who's had the female box ticked Sadly (s)he isn't listed in the game even if you load up the Irish players, but I found it quite funny.

my g/f plays fm a lot and i look at her screen and messages come up saying things with him he his in phrases and sentances and often wonder whether it bothers her im sure she doesnt really mind but that would get on my titts!
