Financial Consequences

I was looking over the lower leagues just now when I saw the MK Dons, and I had a thought: what happens in this game if your team is in too much debt? Apart from getting the sack of course. What would happen if you ran a teams finances over 500 million quid into the red? Would there be any consequences for the club in general, say going into administration, or even folding altogether, as Wimbledon did.

I don't think teams in FM can fold altogether, but I have seen a few teams go into administration in FM08.

It would be interesting to see if there was a limit to the amount of debt a team can have. I might use FMM on Real Madrid and see what happens, when I get bored of my current game that is.

You're joking, surely? So if I were good enough to stay as the teams manager till they were -2B in debt, I'd suddenly get 2B? Just like that?

It is explained in there. TBH, this isn't a slight concern, who is going to get 2bn in debt, really?

Quite simply what would happen is the following.

- Club would be docked points for Administration.

- Club would lose good players for not being able to afford wages.

- Club couldn't sign players due to no transfer funds.

- Club gets relegated.

- Repeat the above until the club is out of playable leagues.

And that would be it. You'd never see/hear of them again.
