Does ultimatum ever work?

like when you ask the board to improve your arena and they say no and you can pick ultimatum does it ever work? ive tried it a few times always got fired cause of it.

It works after 20 years of success lol, but it's hard to judge how long is long enough before you'll get away with it. I just wouldn't bother if I were you.

I've never ever had success with it. Even 30+ seasons into a game. (FM06, Had an Arsenal Game 32 or 33 seasons in, Ultimatum for wages. Sacked.)

Never ever had succes with it, and most of the time they could of easily done what I had asked.

I managed to do this with a stadium expansion when i played BATE in Belarus. I had won league 3 seasons in a row and qualified for UEFA group stage three times and CL once in five years.

It once worked for me in FM 07. Never tried it at FM 08 though...

I see they are pretty cutthroat now. I've brought Fisher to the Championship and they fire me for issuing an ultimatum about transfer funds. It used to be in one version you would get a message like:-

The board is willing to forgive this outburst due to your contribution to the club but would suggest that you focus your attention to on field matters in the future

or words to that effect. Now there's no safety net and they just cut you loose . If I was new to the game and didn't really know my chances of getting fired were that high I could see this being a game breaker.

I made an ultimatum when in the Prem with the MK Dons. I had got them there but could not bolster my squad due to a low wage budget. the club had just been given a wodge of cash, I had almost none of it.

So feeling I needed to make a point, and as I had been there for 6 years and taken to the promised land, I issued the ultimatum.

Was I sacked. No I think I was 'warned'...in no uncertain terms not to do it again.

That is as close as I have ever come to success to this ultimately USELESS function. Shame really.

Only once have I avoided the sack for an ultimatum and that was after years of success at Hammerfest which included a Champions League win.

I think that happens when you apply other teams specially teams that are equal/lower to the team you are managing.

I was managing Diagoras and they done this to me when I applied at Sevilla! I never ultimatum anyway, just to be on the safe side!

I don't ever recall having success with this feature as well. Seems like just a cosmetic feature to me. Although I'm sure some might have gotten lucky and been given the benefit of the doubt.

Odds are very unlikely, like 1-2500 i think.

I've had it accepted a few times though. It may be deemed as cheating but i usually save before pressing the dreaded ultimatum button.

I find it's very useful for getting yourself fired, although Manager Options > Resign seems quicker...

I do the same and make sure that I save beofre I do it.

I did that, only wrong. I saved before the season updated and I got a good bunch of regens. Only I applied for the Sevilla job and due to crap options to the media I couldn't say anything and got an ultimatum. I just reloaded the game and got a load of crap regens!

i remember in fm05 it working a few times for me. had to do it twice in a row sometimes though but this seems tantamount to pressing the resign button in 08.

The most success (if you can call it that) is when I issued an ultimatum and instead of outright sacking me, told me they'd forget what I'd said out of respect of what I've done for the club, but they still made sure the stadium wasn't expanded.

I acciedently did it with Malaga. Not too sad as I got the Arsenal job a few days later:)
