Michael Barker
Does anybody always put the opposition instructions on the goalkeeper as 'always close down', 'tackle hard', 'tight marking' and 'show onto weaker foot'? Will this mean your players will always pounce on fumbles made by the goalie and close him down when he brings the ball out trying to be cocky? Just wondering if this will result in more goals because the only downside I can think of would be a player rarely getting sent off for a late challenge on him! Amaroq
For goalkeepers with high Eccentricity, low Composure, and/or low Decisions, I will use "Closing Down Always" and sometimes "Tight Marking". The downside is that my strikers tire themselves out chasing every backpass to him, so their Condition drops fairly quickly. The upside is, we do score some goals from it - poor first touch by the keeper, intercepting backpasses, etc. I wouldn't recommend doing it against every keeper, though. bill b
Have to say I don't usually use opposition instructions. Those ones might work but I'm not sure how often your strikers would be able to get close enough to the keeper to force a mistake.
phnompenhandy
I do do this when I see a keeper with low pace/accel or low bravery. Never definitely worked for me yet, but I live in hope!
