Work Permits

So I have just signed Sime Vrsaljko on my Chelsea save, I always sign this guy as he develops into a world class full back, now I wasn't really paying attention when I signed him but it appears he cant play for me due to failed work permit, doh! other than shipping him out to Westerlo for 3 years which may hinder his development is there any other ways I can get him a work permit?

This is really interesting because I also signed Vrsaljko to Man U, and he was granted one off the bat. No loaning him to Antwerp, nothing. Just got him instantly, just for some reason I signed him in the January transfer window in season 1, and it wouldn't let me use him until season 2.

you can try offering him a new contract in a few months (he probably won't enter negotiations if you've only just signed him) and it may go through unhindered by work permit problems... have had that scenario with a couple of other players.

Offer him out to loan to anyone in europe for a season then offer a new contract. He'l probably get a WP then.

Croatia becomes an EU country in July 2013 anyway, at which point he won't need a work permit anymore. Not sure how far you are into the game though, hopefully it's not long until then.

Yeah, 1 year out on loan will develop a player typically to the point where a work permit is available. Depends a bit on how high CA (or perhaps just rep) that players reaches though.
